Good

Solo stay

Room was tidy but small. Affordable price. Downside in the room i stayed in is you had to share a bathroom with other rooms. Not ideal if you need to go to the toilet and someone is using the shower/bathroom/toilet facilities. The keys are electronic locks. The room i stayed in (room 8) i couldn’t get out of (and i was on the second storey with a window that only partially opened. Had to try pulling the door three/four times before the electronic locks opened and let me out of my room. Let the staff know of the issue and he was going to sort out the lock. Really central and walking distance anywhere in the CBD. Traffic and homeless yelling and shouting the usual suspects at all hours of the night (bring ear plugs). For the price and the size of the hotel, not a bad place to put your head down in to be fair.

We booked the biggest room with king bed and a single bed. The room was situated on a fairly busy street where vehicles kept passing at all times of the night. Too late did we realise that the wall facing the street was no wall at all but a gate with gaps so big you could look outside. The front "door" was a glass wall exposing the entire room to the outside if you open the curtains. The room itself smelt of mould, had no windows and the bathroom was a disaster. Not only did the shower water go all over the bathroom, but the walls and windowsill were peeling and yellowed. The kitchenette window was mouldy. The beds were comfortable, but we got no sleep due to the noise on the street. There might be something resembling social housing across the street, and you could hear people gathering outside and talking loudly in the night. We asked to have a different room in the other building that seemed a bit newer, and the manager begrudgingly allowed us to move to the top floor. This room was tiny and had a king bed and a single bed. Luckily, it had a window you could open, but the handle on the right side was broken off and the window would not close properly. This room was quieter and in much better condition. However, it had no air-condition, and it was really small. Would not recommend and would not book again. I am shocked at the high rating this hotel has, as we spoke to a couple staying there who seemed underwhelmed to say it politely.

Staff were very helpful as we had a significantly delayed arrival. Good information and instructions provided for access. We did ask for parking but didn't really need it as there was available and free on street parking for the holiday weekend.

The experience of staying at U Boutique was a positive one yet again. The room was well presented, the location is convenient, and the staff are helpful and courteous. We have stayed there before and are happy to stay there again on our next visit to Wellington.

We arrived after check-in time, and fortunately, we got checked when Bichu happened to come along. He both works and lives there, and was able to check us in. He was fantastic! The room was clean and comfortable! Have to park in car park across street, but that was no problem.
