The staff went out of their way to help us when we ran into problems that were entirely our fault; the place was clean and comfortable, but the staff was extraordinary.

Location: literally 8 minutes walk to the center , so the location on ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reception: The staff are very nice and very helpful (a few days before arriving at the hotel we contacted about parking - the parking space was very important to us - upon arrival at the hotel, a parking space was waiting for us (even though we were there a few hours before check-in) - it was really very nice, great and professional approach to the requests of hotel guests ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hotel: Even though it's located on the streets, it was really quiet , room (229) clean, very comfortable beds, a big plus is the separate toilet (a great solution) additional amenities: swimming pool (open until 10pm) We used this pool, the children were very happy - there could be a few more lockers for clothes in the changing room , but we can boldly give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food: we bought breakfast when booking and everything was really very good, there is nothing bad to say about this breakfast ,100% everyone will find something for themselves and you won't leave there hungry ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another very BIG PLUS : Check-out is until 12pm, the ladies at the reception let us stay until 1pm (no rush) - that was very nice ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Once we had checked out, we were allowed to leave the car for a few more hours (until 3 p.m.) 😍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😍 - so we could easily, without rushing or stress, visit places we didn't have time for the day before So... if you asked me.. would I stay at this hotel again? ... DEFINITELY YES. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely modern hotel five minutes walk from Grassmarket via the Vennel. Nice pool and bubbly tub, sauna and good breakfast. Easy, friendly, modern and convenient in the majestic city of Edinburgh.

Good

Solo stay

The hotel was in a good location, near to the university and much of the tourist sites in Edinburgh. However, the quality of the hotel was not at all fitting for the whopping $400/night cost. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was airless (no control options. I slept poorly four of the five nights there. The breakfast offered was very good, but not at all worth $30! I only did that once. I don't know how Novotel justifies their high prices.

Fantastic
A good hotel in a good location giving good value for money in a fairly central location in Edinburgh. The room was clean, well organised and functional. The only interaction with the staff was at the front desk during check in which was efficient and courteous. All in all, a short and sweet stay.

Stayed with partner · For business

Stayed here for a local job which involved many cases of luggage, and I regret not reading the reviews properly about how small the car park is when booking. The car park was full, so at 10pm we had to unload into the foyer and my husband had to drive the car up the road to another carpark - however it is only a 6 Min walk back. They have a lift which is helpful and a member of staff offered to help us with all our bags which was appreciated. The room was spacious and comfortable and we really appreciated the bath (although it is not for tall people!) The location is excellent for everything you want in the city but the absolute gem is the breakfast. Such a great selection of hot and cold including waffles but the best bit was the most delicious haggis we have every eaten! Worth coming back for the breakfast alone!
