Friendly welcome and departure, beautiful hotel, perfect location, all staff happy and bubbly and helpful, breakfast fantastic in stunning breakfast room. Only stayed one night and didn't want to leave, so already rebooked to return for two nights in October. Highly recommend.

FantasticStayed with partner
On arrival reception staff very polite and professional, room 330 was next to carpark
On opening the door the radio and fan was on which made it feel very relaxing, the room was beautiful well decorated and inviting.
I didn’t expect it to be as nice as it was dog friendly.
Really good sleep in massive comfortable bed . Very quiet.
Very pleased with our stay and look forward to returning as is Stanley our labarador , he also had a great stay.

GoodStayed with friends
First the positives. Helpful cheerful staff and good facilities: dining room and bar were nicely decorated and set out. The food served at breakfast was very good. Location of hotel is perfect for exploring Bakewell town centre, which is beautiful.
Negatives. We had a room in the annexe across the road. The car parking for the hotel is a bit limited: so first come, first served. This annexe room would have been fine in autumn, but in a heatwave (25 degrees Celsius outside) it was essentially an oven with a window. A fan had been left on but was shifting hot air around the room. Sleeping was difficult as the bed wasn't very comfortable. Shower and bath were fine however. Breakfast service was slow, both in taking the order, 15 minutes after coffee and juice supplied, and 30 minutes to bring the food orders. But as I said before, food was very good. So taking all these factors into consideration: 3 stars.

FantasticStayed with friends
We loved the individuality of the environment in the hotel with all of the decor in the rooms, especially the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast had excellent choices and were beautifully cooked and presented. The evening meals were equally lovely. It has a nice outside seating area where you can enjoy a drink and a meal. The car parking was great, just across the road.
The only negative aspect we had was our room was on the top floor in the main hotel and because of the heatwave there was no air conditioning in the room so it was really difficult to sleep.

Below averageStayed with partner
The room was advertised as cosy which we assumed meant pokey and so it was. Two people could just operate in most of it. Bathroom and shower the same. No sir I but fan, no lifts.
Very poor value for money.
Situated in the middle of Bakewell with limited parking and a lot of traffic noise during the day but much quieter at night.
Public rooms are mostly high ceilinged and spacious although furniture and decoration did not really reflect the true character of this old inn.
The good features: Without exception the staff were pleasant, competent and really wanted to please. Everything clean and bed comfortable. We were fortunate in that twice we found the last available car parking spot. Others could easily be less lucky.
Food: We only had breakfast. Coachman’s full English was a bit mean at £16 but only half a tomato and one medium sized mushroom. Nicely cooked and presented. The mashed avocado was served on a slice of sourdough bread that was so stale that it could not be cut with the knife provided. Very poor value for £16. Coffee ok and nice but cold croissants.
