West Yellowstone is a popular gateway town into Yellowstone National Park. Very few chain hotels. Lots of smallish privately owned motels for massive tourist crowds. Wagon Wheel hotel was such. Room was fine. Lobby temperature 80 degrees. Breakfast was unsafe. Uncovered foods, milk, cold pancakes, fruit. All room temp. Dirty. A Health Department failure. Would not stay there again. McDonalds is 4 blocks away.

Property was a little run down, air conditioning and tv did not work properly, definitely not worth the $300+ charged.

Stayed with family · For friends and family

Not sure what other options are there in West Yellowstone, and how they compare for the same price range, but from all the hotels we stayed at during this trip (six of them, over Montana and Wyoming), this was the least well kept. It looks like an older hotel that was partially updated. The first impression was not so good - the entry door had broken handles, the reception area small and very "busy" (full of too many crammed things), the dining area also small and crammed. The breakfast was very limited, and very "cheapy" (the first hotel ever where the small apples were cut in halfs or quarters, as well as the croissants, no warm food except boiled rice). The two young ladies at the reception and helping with the breakfast did not smile once - it looked like they really didn't want to be there. The room itself wasn't bad, though. Even though only partially updated, it was clean, with nice, new, thick towels, which is what matters the most.

Fantastic

Stayed with friends

It was way better than we thought. The staff was super friendly, and the rooms were clean. It's really close to West Yellowstone downtown and the west entrance. Breakfast was just the basics, but it was enough.

The staff was helpful and pleasant enough. The room was large, comfortable, quiet, and clean. Breakfast was underwhelming and the dining area a bit cramped. But, all in all, it was a pleasant experience.

Carpet need replacing in the room. This is maybe a 2 to 3 star property, but given its location in West Yellowstone they can charge over 300/night. Did in a pinch, wouldn’t use it other than to get to Yellowstone early.
