The bed is old. The pillows are terrible. The shower head needed cleaning for adequate flow. The shower door wouldn't close. Also, the shower leaked into the bedroom. Overall. Fail.

My door didn't lock, at all. It had no card locking or manual locking ability and I found out the hard way. When bringing this up, they didn't fix it, couldnt fix other and didn't even offer to move me rooms. The toilet had no seat cover and the windows in the shower wouldn't stay shut. The guy who worked there was very rude.

Estube solo una noche pero la verdad que esta viejito el hotel, no esta bien mantenido, las camas duras, el baño no tiene agua caliente, la verdad q un hotel “ok” para 1 o 2 noches rapidas

We had a little issue with late CHECK in but the receptionist sorted us out. The hotel staff was super helpful and cleaners done such a great job. We stayed here before and will definitely stay again.

This is a rundown hotel. The staff are useless and unfriendly, except for the maids that do their jobs. The rooftop is overrated by the advertising pictures. Stay away fron this place. Hotel Sofia by Bunik es by far a better choice.

We’ve stayed at Meliora multiple times over the last 7 years. Most of our stays were for a week or more. We loved the place for the proximity to great restaurants and shops. The property was always clean and the staff friendly. Something has changed. Not sure if there is a new management group or the company has fallen on hard times. The greeting at check in was unenthusiastic, the room was less than clean, sheets and linens were stained and the air conditioning was struggling to cool the room. Where there had been a dozen lounge chairs at the rooftop pool on previous visits, now there are only 3 or 4. The shades that run across the rooftop were tattered and filthy. The restrooms were a disgrace and trash cans overflowing. We had no choice but to sleep there one night and left early the next morning. Meliora was one of those unique properties in PDC - modern, clean, welcoming and well maintained. That’s no longer the case. Find another property for your next visit

Nice place

I would have given a 4 star but I had some inconveniences since I arrived. First, when I reserved my friend also reserved a room. I called and ask them if they could give us rooms next to each other. The guy was very nice and told me we were going to be next to each other. Once I arrived I had to wait at the lobby tired after two planes because the guy was busy. Once he arrived he gave me a room on the first floor with terrace to the street, not nice view. I told him about being next to my friend and he said they were full. Then, I went to the room and the lock of double doors going to the terrace did not lock. He was able to fix it before going to bed. Then, I wanted to take a shower. The water coming out from the shower head was hitting the back wall and very little water was coming down. In the morning I had to shower again with very little water. I went to the front and they told me they could give me another room after 12:00 pm. I left my things in my friend’s room and we left. The second room was great, it had view to their garden that it is nice. Nice terrace too. I like the hotel and where it is located, walking distance everywhere, I think they can improve their lobby chairs because one or them has a hole. There was trash at the entrance and on the side. The lady that clean the second room did a great job. It has a nice small kitchen with everything you need to cook. I would go back to this hotel only if they could give me a room with terrace looking at the garden.

It’s an economical hotel to stay in. Also a great location in the playa del Carmen. Los of convenient stores and a Walmart just 3min away walking distance. The room I stayed in had a kitchen that provided pots and cooking utensils. It’s also close to many great local restaurants that serve delicious authentic Mexican food. It’s great because there isn’t many tourist in that area and ferries are easy to get to from here. Isla Mujers being the best beach to go too by ferry from downtown Cancun. Just didn’t understand why they only took cash for payment for entire stay of my visit.
