Tavistock Hotel

Hotel was in a great location, lots of restaurants around. Nice park across the road. Lobby and restaurant/bar area very nice, staff were friendly but BEWARE if you are going in the summer months the rooms DO NOT have air con which in this heatwave made the room unbearable. There isn't a fridge either and we could only get one if we needed it for medication. The room had a fan but didn't help much due to the heat. The room was hotter than outside (outside was between 20-30 degrees) didn't sleep well due to the heat and felt like we couldn't relax in the room as it was so warm and stuffy. Ended up checking out a night early and booked a different hotel with air con. The staff did apologise when checking out and we got a refund for the night we didn't stay. Probably wouldn't go back in the summer time unless they installed air con.

Do not go to this hotel in warm weather! We were unaware this hotel does not have air con when we booked, it ended up being 35 degrees in London during our stay and our room was absolutely unbearable 24/7. (We were on the top floor) The staff were polite but unable to do anything, we had 2 fans on constantly and 2 large fans were on in the hallway but it barely made a difference. Water was provided via fountain in the hallway and it was cold which was a relief. However if the prices in London weren’t so ridiculous we would have moved hotels. The hotel was clean and quiet for central London unfortunately for us the heat ruined our trip.

The shower’s water pressure was really poor. The rooms were outdated and the walls were aging and gross. The hotel doesn’t have aircon and it was extremely hot. There was no fan, and the bed mattress was old and too soft.

This hotel has no a/c for over $300 per night ! Other than that, location is quite good .

Great location and very friendly staff, only downfalls that we were there during the hottest day of the year and there was no air-conditioning a little warm! But overall a nice day

Extremely sauna like room temperature

Room and hotel in general clean. Staff all friendly Breakfast excellent! And although restaurant was busy no queues. Breakfast staff well organised and efficient We will return!

I had a sunny room on the top floor. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. The staff were lovely. It was great to be able to walk to the theatre and museums. I would absolutely stay at the Tavistock again if it wasn't for the plumbing. Bathroom sink - water literally "spit" out when I turned the faucet on. Bathtub - shower spray was so incredibly weak that I washed my hair using the bath faucet, which was very painful as the floor of the bath has a sort of crinkle (non-slip) pattern. I am not sure if this was just my room or the same for all rooms because my stay was short enough that I didn't want to deal with changing rooms.

Location is great in Bloomsbury, walkable to Oxford Street, Kings Cross and other places. I had the smallest room. Bed & amenities (tea & coffee, shampoo etc) were good. Bathroom is small and a bit tired. No Aircon, but there was a fan in the room, which was needed in the heatwave (36 degrees when I was there)!! The worst part is the old windows which make the room quite noisy as the hotel is surrounded by roads on all sides. They do provide ear plugs in the rooms though. Overall, for the price and location it is OK value. I would probably stay there again if I needed to be in that area of London.

Unfortunately, there was heatwave in EU. There was no AC.
