About Hong Kong City Hall

Opened in 1962, the Hong Kong City Hall is the first multi-purpose cultural complex ever built for the community of Hong Kong. Occupying an area of 11 000 square metres on the reclaimed seafront of Edinburgh Place, Central, the City Hall was designated as a Grade 1 historic building in 2009. Its major facilities, including a Concert Hall renowned for its outstanding acoustics, a Theatre well-received by professional theatre groups, as well as an Exhibition Hall capturing view of the Victoria Harbour, are housed in the Low Block. Other minor facilities, such as the Recital Hall, the Exhibition Gallery and the Committee Rooms, which are located in the High Block, are suitable for holding different kinds of events on a small scale.

Opening Hours

  • Hong Kong City Hall: The City Hall opens from 9am to 11pm daily.
  • Memorial Garden: Memorial Garden opens from 7:30am to 10:30pm daily.
  • The Memorial Shrine: The Memorial Shrine is located in the Memorial Garden. Opens from 9:30am to 12:30pm on the first Sunday of every month.
  • Enquiry Counter: The Enquiry counter is at the foyer of the City Hall Low Block. Opens from 9am to 11pm daily providing general enquiry service to the public.|Tel: (852) 2921 2840

Notes to Venue Users

  • All users must wear their own masks throughout their stay at the facilities and must go through temperature screening upon entering the venue.
  • Any users with fever, respiratory symptoms or sudden loss of taste/smell should refrain from using the venue facilities and seek medical assistance immediately.
  • All need to observe hand hygiene (i.e., wash hands with liquid soap and water properly, or clean hands by rubbing with 70-80% alcohol-based handrub when hands are not visibly soiled).
  • All users should avoid sharing of items.

Ticket Refund Arrangement

  • Ticket holders of cancelled events are advised to contact the respective event organisers or check their latest announcements on refund arrangements. For events with refund arrangements at URBTIX outlets.

To facilitate the general public with different needs to participate in cultural and arts activities, Hong Kong City Hall provides the following barrier-free facilities and services for people with disabilities :

Public Area

  • Ramps and stair lift for wheelchair users
  • Tactile-braille indicators and voice-announcement device in the passenger lifts
  • Audio and visual signals of the emergency alarm system
  • Accessible toilets
  • Coin phone and ticket dispensing machine with height convenient for wheelchair users
  • Tactile guide path for visually impaired
  • Automatic door at the foyer entrances for wheelchair users
  • Braille and Tactile map at the foyers for visually impaired
  • "Smart City Walk” mobile app is applicable which shows current location of users and provides navigation to destination for the visually impaired

Enquiry Counter

  • Enquiry Counter with height suitable for wheelchair users
  • Induction loop system for hearing-impaired

Concert Hall & Theatre

  • Designated space convenient for wheelchair users (8 in Concert Hall and 5 in Theatre)

We are planning to improve the barrier-free facilities to enhance accessing the venue with greater ease, our front-line staff members have also been trained and are always ready to provide services and assistance to people with disabilities.
