About Taipei Music Center

Taipei Music Center is funded by the Ministry of Culture and operated by Taipei City Government. The first site in Taiwan created for and wholly dedicated to the preservation and development of music in Taiwan, the center contains a Concert Hall accommodating up to 5,000 people, a Cultural Hall presenting the history of popular music in Taiwan, and a Creative Hub which will serve as an incubator for young musical talents.

Taipei Music Center (TMC) is an all-rounded industry compound located between Nangang Train Station and Kunyang MRT Station in Taipei, Taiwan. This multi-purpose architecture has numerous functions, such as providing performance spaces, preserving cultural records, and stimulating industry development. It is the heart of Taiwan’s popular music industry, the second home for musicians, and a new world for music enthusiasts. Music belongs to everyone, which is why Taipei Music Center was built to be local while international, welcoming, and friendly to all. TMC is where Taiwanese artists find profound support for their production, performances, and talent cultivation. It is also the most familiar corner for the general public to get in touch with the music culture and enjoy music performances. TMC’s spacious and comfortable compound best demonstrates the concept of "Music is Life, Living in Music." At TMC, everyone can have their own voices and enjoy their favorite melodies. Moreover, they can all resonate freely with the songs within their spirit.

Concert Hall

The Concert Hall is a medium-sized auditorium at Taipei Music Center, specially designed for live music performances. Built as an angular-shaped shell with five stories above ground and three stories below, it can accommodate about 5,000 people, a solution to the lack of similarly sized venues in Taiwan. In order to provide musicians with an optimized place to perform, TMC is equipped with four main infrastructure facilities: A large elevator platform, a wide-ranging mother truss, a large-sized sound insulation wall, and the renowned L-Acoustics K2 System, all contributing to a convenient working environment and high-quality stage. TMC fosters and supports diversified forms of music performances, including concerts, musicals, talk shows, and more. The Concert Hall aims to shape the future by providing a blank canvas for emerging musicians to experiment and explore and by encouraging artists of all music genres to expand their audience pool as well as to enrich their creativity.

Cultural Cube

With six stories above ground and one below, the Cultural Cube is the first exhibition hall in Taiwan that acts as a carrier of the past and a bridge to the future, cataloging the history of music in Taiwan. It has curated a permanent exhibition and several special exhibitions, with the former integrating an infrared audio guide and interactive facilities , taking visitors on a journey to learn about how pop music in Taiwan has evolved and developed over the decades. TMC will continue bringing in outstanding arts and music related exhibits from the international community, so that fans in Taiwan can be more in line with the global cultural context and have more profound feelings toward arts and music.

Creative Hub

The post-production phase of music-making is equally critical as executing a live performance. With the hope to fully support the music ecosystem, TMC connects the upstream, midstream, and downstream of the industry chain, providing resources while cultivating a new generation of talents as its priority. The luminous crystalline structure of the Creative Hub symbolizes the vitality of the music industry. This multi-functional area consists of various spaces and professional facilities, including four live houses which accommodate between 200 and 1,600 people. Also present are music classrooms, a rehearsal studio, offices, a recording studio, and a music-themed restaurant. The Creative Hub will act as a cradle for musical talents and can also appeal to the general public for its peripheral food and retail services. The leading position of Taiwan's music in the Asian community can be sustained only by raising the standards for quality music, while also discovering and inspiring the talents of new generations.

Plaza

The Plaza is an outdoor space located between the Creative Hub and the Cultural Cube. Spanning up to 100 meters long and 35 meters wide, it can accommodate up to 3000 visitors. The Plaza is connected to the Concert Hall through a bypass, providing a gathering place for the public to rest and freshen up. It is also an ideal venue for diverse activities such as creative markets, music vendors and street performances to take place, enhancing TMC’s public-oriented essence while bringing people closer.
