Canadian legendary dance icon who shone alongside David Bowie

A quest for the absolute in the form of a breath-taking one-woman-show

Dance artist Louise Lecavalier has enjoyed a celebrated career in the limelight since the 1980s, going from the lead dancer in Édouard Lock’s trailblazing dance company La La La Human Steps for 18 years to touring with English pop star David Bowie and even starring in his music video Fame 90. Over the years Lecavalier has been recognised with a range of prestigious awards in recognition of her accomplishments, such as the Order of Canada and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.

Lecavalier’s endless creativity and desire to keep expanding the frontiers of dance led to the formation of her own company, Fou glorieux, which allowed her to continue her research based on virtuosity, always moving forward and taking risks. Since the extensive tours of her choreographic successes So Blue (2012) and Battleground (2016), Lecavalier’s solo Stations (2020) is her “most personal work to date” and has been presented internationally at more than 60 acclaimed performances so far. Inspired by four distinctive musical themes, or “stations”, Lecavalier explores movement in a dazzling display of fluidity, control, meditation and obsession.
