Chinachem Group Presents, “One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum Drum” Drumming Carnival and 5G Live Concert

"One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" drumming carnival and 5G live concert will hold on 8 December (Sunday) at the Great Lawn in WestK Art Park. Chew Hee Chiat, Assistant Artistic Director and Resident Conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, will lead the orchestra along with several drum troupes to blend drumming and dance, infusing the public with positive energy through exciting performances and promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Highlights of the Drumming Carnival

Through the Drum Carnival, several consulates in Hong Kong (Japan, India, Hungary, Poland, Egypt, Vietnam, the Philippines, and South Korea) will showcase local delicacies and cultural experiences, highlighting the fusion of Eastern and Western cultural arts in Hong Kong.

Another major highlight of the event is the opportunity to play the ultimate 3.47-meter Peace drum. There will also be video performances of drumming recorded at landmarks across Hong Kong’s 18 districts displayed on LED screens, allowing everyone to appreciate the unique local customs and landscapes! Don’t miss the family-friendly drum workshop, various fun activities, performances from different drum teams, and the finals of the "Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drum Competition" (Freestyle and Primary School sections), ensuring a joyful experience for all attendees. This event is perfect for families and is a must-attend activity in December!

Highlights of the 5G Live Concert

The HKCO has invited intangible cultural heritage drumming teams, including the Shaanxi Longgang Xinggu (陝西韓城行鼓), the Yonghong Peace Drum Troupe of Lanzhou (蘭州太平鼓), and the Ha Kwok Cheung Dragon and Lion Dance Team (舞獅), for a close-up interaction with the audience during the parade on the Great Lawn.

This large-scale concert will be live streamed via 5G to a global audience. The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra invites renowned drum and dance groups from around the world to perform on stage. During the concert, the HKCO will present performances featuring R&T and Natsuo Shimizu (Japan-Hong Kong Tap Dance), Nawaz Mirasikar and Sruti Pegatralu (Indian Tabla and Dance), the Orang Orang Drum Theatre (Malaysia), The Little Angels Art Troupe (Korean Bukchum), and Parhati Yasen and Zilalai Bisir (Xinjiang Hand Drum and Dance). Audiences will even have the chance to receive a hand drum and join in the interactive performance, with the powerful drum beats resonating throughout WestK! The audience will also receive a Chinese hand drum for free, along with interactive performances by the orchestra to connect the community through music!
