Interactive Experience: Around the Corner｜Exhibition introduction
Walk down a lane of lights and shadows to feel the sense of kinship in your neighbourhood
The cries of hawkers in the street, the sounds of frolicking children echoing down the corridor, the shadows cast by sunbeams through grille walls… Memory is pieced together from our sensations and experiences. To replicate public housing estates in the olden days, Around the Corner creates with arts tech an immersive and interactive journey by integrating motion capturing and position tracking devices, 360-degree imaging and sound effects into local elements such as dai pai dong (street diner), cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style tea restaurant) and Shanghai-style barber shop.
Stroll through the reimagined spaces, break the confines of time and place, gather fragments of memory, and relive the precious moments we all shared in the housing estates.
