Farruquito—Flamenco | Show Introduction

The electrifying power of gypsy flamenco in its purest form—the first Hong Kong appearance of living legend Farruquito, the recognised heir to the most celebrated flamenco dynasty

Hailed as “the greatest flamenco dancer of the century” (The New York Times) and “a flamenco superstar” (The Boston Globe), Farruquito has been performing internationally since the age of four. He is renowned as both a dancer and a composer who has created his own lyrics and music since his very first show. Farruquito is recognised as the heir to Spain’s most celebrated dynasty of gypsy flamenco artists, inheriting the mantle from his grandfather, El Farruco, one of the greatest dancers in the history of flamenco, when he was just 15, and has received numerous prestigious awards as both dancer and composer throughout his career.

Earthy, raw and passionate, his dazzling production Farruquito—Flamenco brings together outstanding artists, including dancers, vocalists and instrumentalists, who embody flamenco’s uniquely organic mix of music, dance and song. As Farruquito himself says: “All of them unite, like the beautiful coloured threads that come together to create the spectacular shawl of flamenco.”

Farruquito—Flamenco has its Asian premiere in Hong Kong after touring to nearly 40 cities worldwide, playing to sold-out houses and receiving rave reviews. The show features Farruquito’s special blend of deeply rooted tradition and modern style, including new and classic numbers as well as the improvisation which lies at the very heart of flamenco. Art that springs from real-life experience and inspires intense emotions in both performers and audiences, Farruquito—Flamenco is the very essence of flamenco.
