“Over the Rainbow” Kohei Ogawa Solo Exhibition

Quiet Gallery and JPS Gallery have collaborated to present the latest solo exhibition of Japanese artist Kohei Ogawa, "Over The Rainbow." The exhibition is themed around the beloved story "The Wizard of Oz" and combines it with characters from Ogawa's popular "Green Cow Garden" series. Through different mediums of artwork, classic scenes are brought to life and presented to the audience. The series of artworks will be displayed in batches at Quiet Gallery and JPS Gallery in Landmark Atrium. Visitors can enjoy the whole series of artworks in both exhibition spaces and immerse themselves in the magical world created by Ogawa.

"The Wizard of Oz" is a famous classic fairy tale that tells the story of the protagonist Dorothy and her dog Toto. Their carefree rural life is disrupted by an unexpected tornado, and Dorothy embarks on a journey to find her way back home. Along the way, she encounters the Scarecrow in search of a brain, the Tinman longing for a heart, and the Cowardly Lion in need of courage. Together, they set off for the Emerald City, hoping that the Wizard can fulfil their wishes. In life, we all encounter tornadoes, experiencing a sense of weightlessness, like a feeling of being lost in a different world. Ogawa believes that everyone faces challenges and shortcomings to varying degrees but trusts that with the passage of time, these difficulties can be overcome and creating a fulfilling world. Ogawa is thrilled to become a part of everyone's story, just like the companions Dorothy meets along her journey, witnessing their adventures and growth on the Yellow Brick Road. He hopes that the audience will enjoy this journey to the Emerald City.

Quiet Gallery will exhibit up to ninety artworks, except two large-scale acrylic paintings, others are small sized  watercolour paintings on paper. Each artwork focuses on an individual character, portraying their personality and traits, allowing the audience to gain a deeper understanding of each character and fully immerse themselves in the story. Limited vinyl figures of characters from Ogawa's "Green Cow Garden" series will also be available for purchase at the exhibition. Don't miss out if you're a fan! On the other hand, JPS Gallery will showcase over twenty acrylic artworks, and the exhibition space will transform into scenes from "The Wizard of Oz." Starting from entering Dorothy's room, visitors will embark on an immersive adventure along the Yellow Brick Road towards the Emerald City, experiencing a magical world.

Through his unique blend of realism and whimsy, Kohei Ogawa showcases his skill and artistic talent in the solo exhibition "Over the Rainbow," capturing the essence of these beloved characters in a way that is faithful to the original story and uniquely his own.
