About the event

World Children’s Day

World Children’s Day is an international day established by the United Nations and commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child drafted by Eglantyne Jebb, founder of Save the Children, on November 20, 1959. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In honor of World Children’s Day, Save the Children Hong Kong raises awareness of issues that impact children’s development and call for actions, so together, we can create a brighter future for children.

HeARTS • Minds • Reimagine : World Children’s Day Workshops

This year, the theme of the World Children’s Day continues to focus on healthy development of children through the power of “art”. In recent years, mental well-being of children is a growing concern in Hong Kong. Research has shown that up to 39% of primary and secondary school students may be experiencing mental health issues, and youth suicidal rates have been increasing. Therefore, we support children by enhancing their social and emotional skills, mental well-being, and resilience. By doing so, we empower them to face life’s challenges with confidence and lead happier, healthier lives.

In order to enhance and improve children’s social and emotional skills, Save the Children Hong Kong has prepared a series of workshops at M+ Learning Hub on 18th November, allowing everyone to enjoy a day of parent-child activities at the art arena.
Besides, we also arrange World Children’s Day Talk: “Thriving Kids, Confident Parents: Reimagining Our Future Together” , don’t miss the chance and register now!
