YSB23_Banner

The Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band will join hands with saxophonist cum Music Office alumnus Virgil Fok to kick start the “Carry the Music On” concert series, in celebration of the Music Office transcending beyond its 45-year mark, with the concert theme “Sai Kung.Sunset Sunrise”. The Music Office Junior Symphonic Band will also stage their concert debut to showcase music talents of the new generations.

Programme highlights include Around the World which emcompasses music elements from various continents; world premiere of Hong Kong composer Lo Hau-man’s Dear My Sai Kung, a Hong Kong Composers’ Guild sponsored commission; The Setting Sun Also Rises (in celebration of lives too soon lost) in fond memory of the late Colin Touchin and his contribution to the development of wind music in Hong Kong; and two band pieces from Japan, namely “Seagull”, the second movement of Birds, depicting the flux of human lives, and The Knight of the Sky fantasizing a dreamy soar through the air.
