Life is a Ball｜kkplus x FAF｜Exhibition Introduction

Since the opening of kkplus Causeway Bay Hysan store in December last year, kkplus has been focusing on promoting local pop art culture and presenting the diversity of local creations. In art month, kkplus invites FAF (FingerAndFish) to present the exhibition - "Life is a Ball" from 10th to 24th March. FAF, formed by two local illustrators, applies their nostalgic aesthetics and creativity to mark the first exhibition of kkplus Hysan new store, utilizing the double meaning of ball as “a sphere” and also “an occasion where people dance” to describe a life journey. Despite the uncertainty, we should enjoy the party, dressing well and shining under the spotlight.

In addition to the limited edition print artwork, merchandise such as 3D figure, postcard, blind box keychain, and rug are launched for the first time. During the exhibition period, limited edition poster will be gifted for any purchase over HKD 300 of the exhibition merchandise. Limited edition sticker of the exhibition will be gifted for following the Instagram accounts of kkplus (@kk.plus_) and FAF (@fingerandfish).

Photo spots featuring classic painting “The Creation of Adam” and the costume doll scene are welcoming all visitors to explore the gorgeous art world of FAF.

Illustrator Hecoheio and designer Jum in FAF have collaborated with singers Beyoncé and Serrini before. With the influence of Japanese comics "Sailor Moon" and the experience on art creation, products, fashion and styling design, their signature style is established as the bright pink hue and retro nostalgia.

The exhibition features three major themes: revealing the spiritual world of magical Tattsumi, the playful toy Tattsumi series, and of course, the indispensable influence in FAF childhood - Hong Kong pop culture series. You can see the moon power in the artwork "Holy Holy Holy", the playfulness of Tattsumi "Piece of Mi, the dynamic in the amazing world in "Hey Majesty", and the innocence of the Tattsumi- style classic costume doll in "Role Model". Breaking through the boundaries of time and space and broadening the horizon of imagination.

Meanwhile, Tattsumi travels through the 1980s to the millennium Hong Kong movies and pop music world. With her shining pupils and the application of the pink color spectrum, Tattsumi acts as Faye and Wang Jing-wen played by Faye Wong in the movies “Chungking Express” and "2046", Kwan played by Karen Mok in “ Out Of The Dark ”and the landlady played by Yuan Qiu in " Kung Fu Hustle".

Tattsumi also dresses as Hong Kong famous singer Paula Tsui in a polka-dot skirt, put on the sunburn make up as Faye Wong on the album cover, Sammi with her "Nike swoosh eyebrows" , and the first album cover of Twins. The artwork pays tribute to Hong Kong pop culture and records the modern female idols in different eras which all are independent and beautiful, elegant and full of energy in their own way.

Limited merchandise are also launched in the exhibition: Tattsumi figure in the meditating pose carries a peaceful mind to face the uncertain world. The staining technique applied on the figure signifies the trace of time, making contrast to her peacefulness.

Shuttle the classic painting "The Creation of Adam", Window classic desktop wallpaper, the pop art masterpiece " Shot Marilyns " by Andy Warhol to present a series of 3D postcards, neon lights, A4 folders, glass sets, PVC tote bag, T-shirt, rug, twelve constellation blind box keychains, etc. Upholding the curiosity to the world, radiate love and dreams from small things to every single corner in your daily life.
