「 I often paint beach landscapes, the beach is an vast open space and land-water interface. 」-Marc DESGRANDCHAMPS

The solo exhibition this time, Ephemeral Memories, is a retrospective that attempts to review his artworks of each period. Echoing with each other, his works from different periods of times lead his audience into the artist’s world of memory projection. He translates his life fragments and experiences into scenes that merge both memory and imagination. Depicting the almost transparent blend of figures and environment to create a montage effect of photo editing, his complex composition is a re-cutting and fusion of fleeting memories into the grand scene in his mind.

“Memory, the partial survival of a phenomenon after its cause has vanished.” -Marc DESGRANDCHAMPS

His latest works, “Les Rivages” and “Signe Des Temps” are translated into "the horizon” and “sign of the time” in English. With translucent paint, the figures in the scenes appeared clear and a bit see-through. His classic blue sky and turquoise tones are striking, turning realistic snapshots into sequences of dreams and abstract memories. He believes that a title given to a painting is like an added color, like a footnote of the state. Sometimes, it is even more like a letter written to the viewer. Just as the artist Marcel Duchamp once said, “The title of a painting is a color that has not yet come out of the tube.”
