Exhibition Introduction


Food is a medium to connect people from different backgrounds, while it is an importanticon in representing various cultures.
Artist Alison Hui has a habit of recording the food she tried in her life journey.
In 2019, she published a book talking about Hong Kong food culture and history.
In the same year, she created a series of artwork comparing the iconic food of HongKong and Germany, during her stay in Leipzig.
In 2021, she self-published a zine talking about the Tofu culture: Types of tofu products, the making process and selected traditional tofu shops with their own workshops in the backyard.
The exhibition aims to create a visual food journey with her artworks and original illustrations from mentioned publications, giving the audience a chance to enjoy the warmth and vibrant colours with the brushstroke from the original artworks.
Her publications are available at the exhibition for collection alongside the exhibits and art prints.
All exhibited paintings will be destroyed after the end of the exhibition.

About the Artist
Alison Hui
A Hong-Kong based illustrator, urban sketcher and doodler, who renders hercity-inspired observation in vivid and delightful details with vibrant colours on paper.
Alison is a city observer; she uses lines, water colour, and markers to record and express her interpretation of city landscape and culture in her artworks.
