・Mikata Five Lakes… The Mikata Five Lakes, which span Mihama Town and Wakasa Town in Fukui Prefecture, consist of five lakes: Lake Mikata, Lake Suigetsu, Lake Suga, Lake Kugushi, and Lake Hinata. The five lakes have different water qualities and depths, and all appear to be different shades of blue, so they are called the “Five-Color Lakes,” and the differences can be clearly seen from the 11.2 km long Mikata Five Lakes Rainbow Line Prefectural Road. In November 2005, it was registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland, and in 2019, its sustainable fishing culture was recognized as a Japanese agricultural heritage site.

・Wakasa Town Tourist Lake Cruise… The tour departs from Kaizan Pier and takes about 40 minutes to tour two of the Mikata Five Lakes, Lake Suigetsu and Lake Suga. There are many ways to enjoy the tour, such as dining on board or bird watching on the open deck. The first floor seats are fully air-conditioned, and the second floor seats allow you to enjoy the wonderful scenery and the refreshing breeze blowing across the lake. At Lake Suga, a treasure trove of wild birds, you can relax and enjoy the rich nature.

・Mikatagoko Roadside Station… The specialty product direct sales store sells local vegetables and souvenirs, and the Mikatagoko Nature Observation Building offers bird watching and other year-round enjoyable facilities. As it is the largest plum producing area on the Sea of Japan side, the direct sales store has a wide selection of plum processed products, and during the season, the store is filled with a wonderful aroma.
