Charming is the right word for this place, it is really lovely. We stayed for one night in July 2026. The front desk manager (owner?) was incredibly professional and helpful and remembered who we were and was extremely responsive to all our requests. The guesthouse is off of a narrow steep street that cars often won't go on, so be prepared to walk a little. The rooms are compact but we had a queen size bed rather than two twins pushed together, which is fairly common there. The breakfast was quite a spread and very good. Be aware the pool is small (like 6 people tops) and only two chaise lounges but we enjoyed spending time there. Good water pressure and shampoo/soaps provided. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely, stylish property and rooms with a gorgeous pool area which was hugely appreciated to cool off in the afternoon. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We very casually mentioned before arriving a couple of our group had birthdays during our stay and on both days we were greeted at breakfast with a very thoughtful piece of cake with a candle in - so sweet! We felt really well looked after and our room was perfectly comfortable and clean for a lovely city break. Faultless location for wandering across the city and getting to bars and restaurants of an evening too

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the staff for their flexibility and help in accommodating us a day earlier than planned. It truly made our arrival so much smoother, and we appreciate the effort. Discovering this guest house on Expedia turned out to be a fantastic stroke of luck! The experience was both amazing and charmingly personal, with a quaint atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Its location couldn’t have been better—everything was within easy walking distance, perfect for exploring all the activities and tours Lisbon has to offer. One of the highlights of our trip was dining at Pronto, where the homemade pastas and pizzas were delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. We also took advantage of the RedLine Bus (not Greyhound), which offers three routes—red, blue, and yellow—making it effortless to visit all the main attractions without lots of walking or relying on taxis. After a day of sightseeing, returning to our home base via the RedLine and stopping at #5 was a delightful surprise. We found ourselves stepping right into a piazza with a beautiful church and a stunning scenic view of Lisbon and the castle. The outside restaurant overlooking the city was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal and a few drinks while soaking in the scenery. Overall, our time in Lisbon was absolutely wonderful. Thank you again for your hospitality and for making our stay so memorable.

This hotel is a little gem in the heart of Lisbon. Well located on the tram 28 route. What’s set’s this hotel apart for us is the staff. We’ll have travelled the world and stayed in many hotels but the staff in Dear Lisbon, Charming House are simply wonderful and absolutely second to none. So approachable, attentive and always ready to assist. They helped make our first stay in Lisbon extra special. Our room was very clean with AC, a reasonable size for Lisbon and well appointed with Ritual toiletries. Our only slight issue was that we would have preferred tea/coffee facilities in the room although these were available in the reception area. The buffet breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold food and meant we weren’t seeking out breakfast in an unknown area. There’s a lovely courtyard with a swimming pool and is a lovely space to sit with a glass of wine. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Only complaint was no lotion in the room/bathroom. Highly suggest you add this to the rooms. Johanna was great!

We loved the property and its location was good. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The property was undergoing pool maintenance so that was disappointing and took away from the ambiance. The room was much smaller than expected from the pictures and lacked some touches that would make it more functional. For example: they should have hooks for bags since the floor and table space was very limited. There was also only one very tiny trash can and very difficult to see unless window was open, because the lighting was limited. I was surprised that they did not allow food in the room, but there was food in the room (pastries) upon arrival. The decor was great and we especially loved our receptionist, who was new to the area from Brazil. Overall, the stay was lovely. I would just like to see a few more touches.

A lovely boutique hotel, in a quiet street. The staff very much made you feel welcome and provided assistance when asked. Some of the hotel, particularly the bathrooms, doors of the rooms could do with an upgrade as showing signs of wear, but still functional.
