Musée de l'Orangerie Reviews

Fantastic 5.0
We visited Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny a few days before coming to the museum, and it completely changed the experience for us. Being able to connect the scenery and atmosphere from Giverny to Monet’s paintings made the masterpieces feel even more extraordinary. Absolutely in awe. We were also very lucky to catch the special exhibition on Henri Rousseau — truly the cherry on top. One thing to note: Klook tickets only let you choose the date, not a specific entry time, so be prepared for an average wait of around 30–60 minutes outside.

Fantastic 5.0
Good value for money. Great choice if you know that you'll be doing a lot of the popular Paris spots. Just be sure you check your museums' schedules beforehand since some of them have free entry days.

Fantastic 5.0
Completely different in style from the Louvre, it features many sculptures and design works, and even some Van Gogh paintings. The introduction explains how the interior design was transformed from a dilapidated train station into its unique present-day form, making it well worth appreciating.

it was nice to explore one of world’s amazing museum, so much to learn about history. unfortunately islamic section was closed due to renovation. Entry was easy and smooth, its better to be on your selected slot , in case you can’t, they still let people in but from from another place

Fantastic 5.0
I originally came to see the building because I heard it was renovated by Tadao Ando, but then I realized it was actually a museum. I frantically searched for tickets and luckily found them available on KLOOK. It was cheaper than buying directly from the official site or other sites, and tickets were available every 30 minutes. I was even able to buy a ticket for just 3 minutes later, which was great for spontaneous visits. The museum itself was very satisfying. The exhibits apparently change periodically; during Golden Week, there was an exhibition by a Romanian artist. As it's a contemporary art museum, tastes might vary, but I think everyone would be captivated by the skillful architectural design and overwhelming scale. I highly recommend it to those who appreciate architecture or contemporary art.

Fantastic 5.0
I was so satisfied with the 4-day Museum Pass, allowing me to explore at my leisure! The thrill of entering with the pass without waiting in line! It was really convenient for me, as a 'P' (perceiver), to visit places not originally in my plan. I visited the Louvre (one-time entry only, reservation via official website), Orsay Museum (reservation via official website), Les Invalides (walk-in, Napoleon's tomb, surprisingly a lot to see), Pantheon (walk-in, has Foucault's Pendulum), Rodin Museum (walk-in, features Rodin's works plus Impressionist pieces), and Sainte-Chapelle + Conciergerie (can be booked as a set on the official website, small so you can see it quickly).

Great 4.0
We included this as our first activity on our Paris trip, and my child and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit! It was great even for a long viewing. They kindly allowed us to use the child's ticket immediately without needing to print it separately. It felt more like a well-exhibited viewing experience rather than a hands-on one, allowing us to see things up close. There were plenty of chairs throughout, so my child was comfortable being able to rest and watch without getting tired.

Fantastic 5.0
My brother had visited the Army Museum before and spoke very highly of it, so I came in with pretty high expectations. I was genuinely impressed by the collections on display — weapons, armor, and military uniforms spanning across different eras of history. It really feels like walking through time. I think most people come here to see Napoleon’s tomb, though. Regardless of differing views on him, he was undeniably a legendary historical figure.

Paintings at Musée de l'Orangerie

Monet's Water Lilies (Nymphéas)

The most iconic artwork in the Musée de l'Orangerie, Monet's Water Lilies, stretches across curved walls in two oval rooms filled with natural light. Claude Monet painted these peaceful landscapes to show the changing moods of water, light, and sky.

The Young Apprentice by Amedeo Modigliani

Part of the Walter Guillaume Collection at Musée de l'Orangerie, this portrait by Modigliani features his signature long necks and dreamy expressions. It's simple, yet full of emotion and mystery. You'll find it in the museum's permanent collections alongside other modern masterpieces. This painting is a standout example of early 20th-century Paris art.

Woman with Blue Eyes by Amedeo Modigliani

This elegant portrait shows Modigliani's love for graceful shapes and soft colors. The woman's deep blue eyes almost follow you as you walk by. It's another gem in the Musée de l'Orangerie's permanent collections, and it captures the beauty of everyday people in Paris.

The Red Trees by Chaïm Soutine

This bold and colorful landscape bursts with energy and swirling brushstrokes. Soutine painted the trees like they're dancing in the wind, making it feel alive. You'll find it in the Walter Guillaume Collection, one of the best parts of Musée de l'Orangerie's permanent exhibition.

Apples and Biscuits by Paul Cézanne

In this still life, Cézanne turns a few snacks and fruits into a perfect study of shape and balance. His careful brushwork and warm tones make the apples look almost good enough to eat. You'll find it displayed in the Walter Guillaume Collection at Musée de l'Orangerie.

Bouquet of Flowers by Maurice Utrillo

This cheerful still life brightens the room with vibrant reds and greens. Utrillo's style is simple and expressive, capturing beauty in everyday moments. You'll spot this work in the permanent collection near the Jardin des Tuileries entrance at Musée de l'Orangerie.

Portrait of Paul Guillaume by André Derain

This bold portrait honors Paul Guillaume, the art dealer behind many of the museum's masterpieces. Derain paints him with strong colors and shapes, giving him a modern and confident look. This portrait reminds you that art collectors help shape what we see in the Musée de l'Orangerie.
