Jagalchi Fish Market is the largest seafood market in South Korea and a must-visit if you're in Busan. Located near Jagalchi Station, Nampo Station, and Busan Station, this lively market in Jung-gu has been a hub of local life since the Korean War. It's now one of the city's top attractions, known for providing the freshest seafood straight from the sea to your table. Choose your own fresh fish or live shellfish like abalone, octopus, or sea squirts from the downstairs vendors, and have them cooked or served raw upstairs. It’s one of the few places where you can enjoy a full meal of raw fish, spicy Korean dishes, and even some alcohol, all in the same building. Whether you're exploring from Haeundae Station, Seomyeon Station, or coming in from Busan Port, a trip to Jagalchi Market is worth adding to your plan! This massive seafood market is not just about food; it's a wonder of Korean culture, where you can walk through rows of packed stalls, interact with the friendly women vendors known as "Jagalchi Ajumeoni," and enjoy sea views while you eat. Plan your Seoul trip today and add Jagalchi Market to your itinerary!

Wingwing was a very good tour guide! Even if she lost her voice slightly, she did her best to explain to us the stories behind the different sights we visited. The tour itself was well planned and was enough to see the beauty of Busan. Busan was very different compared to Seoul but equally as beautiful. Highly recommended tour!

One of the best experiences I've had in south korea by far. Heeyoung, the chef and the host of the workshop was super nice, and besides her great English, she also taught us so much and really explained all we wanted to know about korean cuisine. She also makes everything from scratch by herself. The food was great and diverse and the place where the workshop took place is clean and really pleasant. After eating, Heeyoung took us to one of the local markets on the area and we got to experience another side fo the Korean cuisine. Overall great experience, I recommend it very much, 10/10

Lucy was a great tour guide! You can see the passion and effort she gives during the whole tour. She is articulate and well equipped with knowledge which I enjoyed. But what I really loved about the whole experience was the food we tried- it was affordable yet very scrumptious. She’s not only a tour guide but also a food connoisseur!!

The tour guide Sunny is very friendly, the introduction of the attractions is very good, and he will arrange meals and order food. The itinerary time is also very good, but the five six islands are a bit boring. It would be better if more time could be arranged in the white shallow beach and Gancun Cultural Village.

We planned the itinerary and communicated with the driver in advance. The driver drove according to our requirements and made the most of the required attractions in eight hours. Nice day trip.

The tour guide contacted us via WhatsApp the day before to confirm our pick-up location near our hotel. The English-speaking guide was helpful. The bus was full on a Monday, but it was still an enjoyable experience. Busan is beautiful, and I will visit again.

Things to Do in Jagalchi Market

Pick Your Own Seafood and Eat It Fresh

At Jagalchi Market, you can walk through rows of fish tanks and pick the exact seafood you want---like live crabs, abalone, octopus, or even sea squirts. After you choose, the vendor will send it upstairs to be cooked or served as raw fish (called "hwareo" in Korean).

Try Dried Seafood Snacks

Besides live seafood, Jagalchi Market is also known for its large dried fish section. You'll see rows of stalls selling dried squid, anchovies, and other salty snacks. You can taste samples before you buy. This is a fun way to explore the different flavors of Korean seafood without needing to sit down for a full meal.

Meet the "Jagalchi Ajumeoni"

The vendors at Jagalchi Market are mostly older Korean women, called "ajumeoni." They're friendly and hardworking, and many have been selling fish here for years. Talking to them or even watching them work gives you a glimpse into the local culture. It's part of what makes visiting Jagalchi Market feel so authentic.

Enjoy Ocean Views While You Eat

After you pick your seafood, head to the second floor of Jagalchi Market. Many of the restaurants there have tables near big windows that face the sea. You can enjoy your freshly cooked meal while watching the boats in Busan Port. It's a relaxing moment in the middle of a busy market.

Take a Walk Around the Outdoor Stalls

Outside Jagalchi Market, there are more stalls and vendors selling all kinds of seafood and Korean street food. You can take a short walk along the shore or through the nearby Nampo-dong shopping streets. This area around Jagalchi Market is packed with things to see, eat, and explore, perfect if you want to keep your trip going after your meal.
