Rent a car in Busan
Convenience and Exploration
Renting a car in Busan offers unparalleled freedom to explore the city's attractions at your own pace. With your own vehicle, you can easily drive to the picturesque Haeundae Beach or the serene temple of Haedong Yonggungsa, both accessible within the city limits. Enjoy the flexibility to discover hidden gems without the constraints of public transportation schedules.
Vehicle Inspection and Rental Agreement
Before you hit the road, thoroughly check the rental car for any pre-existing damage. Document any imperfections with photos or videos and report them to the rental agency to prevent any misunderstandings later. Familiarize yourself with the rental contract, noting details like mileage allowances, fuel policies, insurance inclusions, potential extra fees, and driving area restrictions. Remember to refuel the car before returning it to sidestep additional charges, and always return the car on time to avoid penalties.
Child Safety Requirements
In Busan, as in the rest of South Korea, child safety in vehicles is paramount. Ensure that you request a suitable child car seat from the rental company if you're traveling with young children. Availability may vary, so it's crucial to confirm this in advance. Traveling without an appropriate car seat could result in legal issues.
Traffic Considerations
Busan, like any major city, can experience heavy traffic congestion, particularly during rush hours. Plan your travel to avoid peak times, typically from 7 am to 9 am and 6 pm to 8 pm on weekdays. When driving in the city center or near popular areas like the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Square, stay alert and patient as traffic can be dense.
Navigation and Parking
While navigating Busan's streets, a rental car equipped with a GPS navigation system can be a lifesaver. This technology will assist you in reaching destinations like the Gamcheon Culture Village or the bustling Gukje Market with ease. Parking in Busan can be challenging, but many car parks and hotels offer parking facilities, so plan ahead to ensure a smooth experience.
Airport Rental Convenience
Upon arrival at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, you'll find a selection of car rental agencies ready to serve you. Conveniently located within the airport, these companies offer a range of vehicles to suit your travel needs, allowing you to start your journey as soon as you land.
Driving Etiquette and Regulations
In Busan, motorists drive on the right side of the road. Road signs are typically displayed in both Korean and English, making navigation easier for international visitors. Always adhere to traffic laws, such as not crossing solid lines and giving way to pedestrians. Drunk driving is strictly prohibited and carries severe penalties, so ensure you have a designated driver if you plan to consume alcohol.

Fantastic Carnival Kia 6 day
Because the car I booked was no longer available, they replaced it with a larger, more comfortable, and very new car with only about 5,000 kilometers on it. The pickup and return were very quick, and filling up the tank upon pickup and return is reasonable and fair.
