What is Sentosa Island?
Sentosa Island is a manmade island in the southern part of the Southeast Asian nation. Formerly a military base, the island was converted into a tourist destination with abundant attractions geared towards serenity and just having a good time. You’ll find many hotels, resorts, and family-friendly activities that can occupy you for days!
How to get to Sentosa Island
The great thing about Sentosa is that it’s accessible from the mainland through a wide range of options, especially from HarbourFront MRT and Vivocity shopping mall.
1. Cable car
One of the most famous ways to go to the island is via cable car. In fact, it’s a fantastic way to get a bird's eye view of the island and the Southern Waterfront of Singapore! On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Indonesian islands down south.
You can conveniently book a ride on the Singapore Cable Car ride on Klook! What's even better is that you do not need to pay an additional entrance fee into Sentosa if you go by cable car!
2. Car
You can easily drive into Sentosa via the Sentosa Gateway bridge. You can also take a private-hire car or taxi in and stop at the many pick-up and drop-off points available across the island:

- Beach Station (carpark basement level near Lift B)
- Roundabout outside Beach Car Park
- SDC Office
- Sentosa Golf Club
- Quayside Isle

Do note there is an entrance fee of up to $6 per vehicle depending on the time of day.
3. Public Bus
You can take bus numbered 123 which directly go to Sentosa from multiple pick-up points in mainland Singapore, including Orchard Road and Tiong Bahru MRT station. The bus will stop at both Resorts World Sentosa and Beach Station.
Another option is to take buses numbered 65, 80, 93, 188, 855,10, 30, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145, and 166. Then you’ll hop off at Vivocity, Merrill Lynch, or HarbourFront, before changing to bus numbered RWS8 to Resorts World Sentosa. RWS8 will cost $1 per person.
4. MRT then Monorail
Another great way to go to Sentosa is via the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit). You can start by taking the North-East Line or Circle Line and alight at HarbourFront MRT station. From here, you can transfer to the Sentosa Express monorail at level 3 of Vivocity. The Sentosa Express will cost $4 per person.
5. On Foot
If you’ve reached Vivocity either via bus or the MRT, you can opt for a leisurely walk on Sentosa Boardwalk, which offers views of Resort World Sentosa and the surrounding port area. Best thing is, it's free to enter Sentosa if you choose to walk!
