The driver is very passionate about his country and shares the history of each sight along the way to the activity, which was useful in helping us appreciate and understand. the off-road ride there is safe and not very bumpy, you can also see how skillful the driver is! The hike itself is OK, safe and not streneous. only disappointment is that we had expected the ice cave to be bigger and grandeur and it is actually more like a “tunnel” that you can walk through in less than 5 minutes. not the prettiest. the hike itself takes a longer time.
I went there in March, and since glaciers can only be seen in limited areas of Iceland, you can't see the ice caves or glaciers unless you join this tour and have a guide take you there in a jeep. I'm really glad I joined and was able to see the amazing scenery. We were picked up and dropped off in a large bus to Vik, and stopped at two waterfalls on the way. The driver explained about Iceland to us on the way, which was interesting.
The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly which made the tour fun and insightful. Had hiking the glacier and climbing it.
amazing ice cave! can’t believe that it is so beautiful! The glacier is amazing. It is a new experience that sitting Jeep car, it is stimulated !
we had an amazing tour with the small group of people, high recomended as less hassle and the tour guide is very accomodating ❤️🇮🇸
On the way there, we stopped for a 15-minute break to buy lunch, then headed straight to Vik. From there, we transferred to a Super Jeep for about half an hour to reach the glacier, where we put on crampons and helmets. We then walked for about 10-15 minutes to enter the ice cave. It was extremely cold due to heavy rain/snow. The ice cave wasn't very big, but it was beautiful and definitely worth seeing. On the return trip, we stopped at two waterfalls before heading back to the city.
We had opted for the combo package of Ice cave trek and Glacier hike offered by Artic Adventures and it was wonderful. The guide is very professional and sweet and will take you through. For both activities, they will provide you with crampons. For Glacier trek, ensure you have trekking shoes with ankle support. else, you can rent it from Artic Adventures. For advanture lovers, you can opt for Extreme Glacier hike. definitely recommend this activity.
one of our most memorable trip. though the weather weren’t in our favour but it was a really good experience. do dress warm with waterproof jacket, pants and shoes for a better experience. the guide was superb too!
Since there are no blue ice caves available in Iceland in autumn, I chose this itinerary. The price is slightly more expensive, but it is still worth experiencing the ice cave tour.
Because daylight hours are shorter, the itinerary was very tight 😂. The tour guide was also very rushed. We booked for 9:00 AM, but the tour guide was already telling us to get on the bus at 8:56 AM, and even asked us, "What you waiting for" 🤣🤣. But we were given time to stop and take photos at each attraction 😆~ The ice was very beautiful, and the jeep was very comfortable.
