Located in Shiga Prefecture, right beside the stunning Lake Biwa, Biwako Valley Ski Resort offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere—perfect for beginners and families. Biwako Valley stands out in the Kansai region with some unique features, including the only U-shaped snowboarding course and a dedicated slalom trail. Families will love Snow Land, a safe and exciting area for children to enjoy sledding, tubing, and playing in the snow. And of course, the panoramic views of Lake Biwa and Mt. Hiei from the mountaintop are truly unforgettable. Just a short transfer from Kyoto, Biwako Valley Ski Resort offers a charming, all-in-one winter escape—whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or simply playing in the snow.

Good to know
- It’s colder at the mountaintop. Dress in layers and use waterproof outerwear—especially for kids playing in the snow
- Bring a waterproof pouch so you can safely take photos while playing or skiing
- While food is available on the mountain, having a few snacks handy is great for quick breaks in the snow play zone

I love the scenery there! thx klook, made my trip smooth and simplified the rental and travel process. highly recommended :)
There wasn’t enough snow in late December, so I turned left and went skiing on Mt. Hakodate. There is a 2000yen coupon compensation. Mount Hakodate has plenty of snow. The journey takes about 90mins.
Meet up point is unclear and no photo of bus.waited at the bus stop.scared me for 5 mins that another bus with lemon signboard does not have my name.then another yellow bus arrived.after that everything went smooth.top of the mountain has lunch which expensive which expected.set of rental choice of ski or snowboard.ref pic.opt for biwako valley is better.
Meet up place just 1 level up of the JR Namba station. It takes around 1 hour 45 mins to Biwako ski resort. And it was great that it got snow and the mountains were all covered with snow. My kids had fun and really enjoyed their 1st snow experience. Please remember to bring water proof gloves to play snow as the gloves there are not cheap ( I spent ¥55,000 for 2 pair of the kids gloves). Also, You can use the food voucher to buy food/drinks in the restaurant if you choose do not ski, the Japan wagyu beef steak in restaurant is not bad there and only cost around ¥2500.
At first I thought that after the skiing, I was completely fatigued and fainted, so I bought a passenger to go back and let me rest in the car, get out of the car and fight again. Although I did n’t go to Lake Biwa on that day (warm winter snow is not enough), I was surprised after moving to Hakateyama There is enough snow on the mountain, the snow is flying, and the view of Lake Biwa is also overlooked. Note that this is a non-teaching itinerary. If you have no experience in skiing at all, it is recommended to go with someone who can slip, or rent a sleigh slide, don't rush I bought the cable car coil but couldn't get down from the top of the mountain at all. It is dangerous to get stuck on the snowy road. The overall experience is pretty good ~
We were routed to Hakodateyama because theres no snow yet in Biwako first week of January. I think it would be best to go there on the last week of February. Nonetheless, we had a great time. The tour guides were helpful and polite. The travel was convenient and comfortable. The place had an awesome view of the Biwa Lake. Be early or be on time and always have your google map ready so that you won't have problem locating the meet-up point.
On the day of the event, we were notified that the Biwako Valley Ski Resort was due to be closed due to insufficient snow. The team leader then tried his best to arrange the Hakodate Mountain Ski Resort, which is 30 to 40 minutes away from Biwako. Although a little disappointed, the food and equipment rental coupons distributed are very good👍🏻
fantastic trip to the Biwako. Poe ty of good snow and skiing. also did the flying fox and that was super cool
I asked a personal trainer to teach my children to skateboard that day, because I was in a restaurant the day before, and I didn’t sleep at night. I used the Internet processing company’s office to feel mentally uncomfortable the next day. I don't plan to refund my personal questions because the other party has already made the reservation and helped me prepare it. I don't want to participate in all the equipment temporarily. The coach kept asking me why I didn’t join the trip? Are you dissatisfied with the venue equipment or the individual coach? Because the coach wants to know if it belongs to them, it makes me not want to join the trip. I have always explained that this is not the case. Just ask the coach to teach the child alone. In short, this is a great experience.
The meeting point wasn’t too hard to find! however, the guide only mentioned about the ski equipment rental but didn’t mention about we had to go to the ticketing booth to get the ticket for ropeway pass and ski pass. There were long lines for everything so it was a bit frustrated after a long wait to the ropeway and realised we had no pass to get on. Apart from that I was happy to this one day ski trip.
