What to expect
Post World War II, Japanese folk needed a cheap, fast meal; thus, okonomiyaki was born! Every local has a slightly different description of okonomiyaki, but the name means ‘what you like, grilled’! A savory pancake made with a base of shredded cabbage and batter; you’ll find skilled street food maestros creating innumerable varieties of delicious treats.
Discover Osaka’s best okonomiyaki eateries, ranging from bustling restaurants to tiny, family-owned stalls that locals favor above all else. From the former slum of Shinsekai, where authenticity is the name of the game, to Omoni, a Umeda gem where you can make your own pancakes, your host will ensure you get the tastiest possible okonomiyaki experience.
