What To Expect from Arashiyama & Nara Todai-ji Tour
Embark on a comfortable ride through Japan’s ancient capitals of Nara and Kyoto to see the Sagano Bamboo Forest of Arashiyama, the glimmering Golden Pavilion, and Nara’s famous deer park. We’ll make our way to Arashiyama, where we’ll enjoy a traditional Japanese lunch of seasonal Kyoto specialties before exploring the area. The Sagano Bamboo forest has been a popular nature-viewing destination since the Heian Period. Drive through Kyoto proper and arrive at the Golden Pavilion. True to its name, the gold-leaf covered temple dazzles in the sunlight, reflected in the mirror-like pond it overlooks. Take a short walk through Nara Park, famous for the 1,200 or so wild deer that live freely within the park. Todai-ji Temple, home to one of the three titanic Great Buddha Statues of Japan.

this is the best option to cover the 3 places with a tour guide and make you feel closer to Japan traditions culture. our tour operator Maria was outstanding in explaining us the whole itinerary and making the trip seamless experience. the bamboo forest and Nara park is a must visit in Kyoto and it would be great to do it one day to save more time for the Gion / geisha experience. trust me you would need 2 full days to keep exploring Gion and the authentic time travel back in 8th century . hence very much recommend finish this 3 spots in one go with ease of travel via Bus. think wise thank me ! very much thanks to the tour and especially Maria for making the trip and experience to cherish !! ♥️♥️
Our guide Eiko was so kind and knowledgeable during the whole tour. We saw so many beautiful things and learned a lot about the history. Definitely recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and being careful around the Nara deer as they can get aggressive with the food.
The tour was very informative and interesting. The guide, Maria, was very engaging, funny and provided much knowledge and context behind the places we visited. She was very considerate, waiting for the others while they were taking a break. Overall, I would highly recommend going on this experience, especially for first-timers in Kyoto and Nara, for people keen about nature and architecture, and for those who are quite fond of deer... :)
Would recommend: Tour guide was excellent. The deer were hilarious. All of the entry fees were taken care of. Lots of lovely places and views along the way. be warned, even in the off season this was incredibly busy.
Anna provided an engaging and insightful experience as our tour guide, we were lucky to have such good weather to see all the wonderful sights
We had such a wonderful time on our day trip from Kyoto to Nara! From the serene bamboo forest in Arashiyama to the stunning Kinkaku-ji, and feeding the friendly deer at Nara Park—every stop was a highlight. Our guide, Ms. Eiko, was incredible—funny, attentive, and so sweet with our 3-year-old daughter. She made the entire experience smooth, fun, and truly memorable for our family. Highly recommended!
Pretty good for value; the tour guide was quite nice and informative. this tour is a good choice to scout out destinations you would like to spend more time later on.
A great way to see the 3 locations. Our tour guide, Maria was fantastic. A word of warning. The deer at Nara can be aggressive when you have the crackers. Don't place passports in vulnerable positions.
Great more relaxing way to see Kyoto attractions that are a bit more out of the way in an air conditioned bus (which is so nice on a hot day). Our guide Aiko was so nice and pleasant. Do note that finding the tour meeting point is not easy - so leave time for it. It does not say but the tour operator is LIMON and they use a yellow flag. To get to Avanti Hotel you need to follow the right exit UNDERGROUND if you’re riding the subway. If you get out the wrong exit you can’t easily walk there you have to go back underground as we learned. leave some time to find them is my tip.
The English tour guide, Jewell, was very knowledgeable about the stops and points on the tour. She was very efficient in working with the tour group and helped all of us to get some very good photos of interesting places and views. She gave out lots of information when moving between stops and was generally very helpful.
