Sado Island: Obata Sake Brewery Tour and Tasting

Discover a unique sake experience at Obata Shuzo on Sado Island, home to “Sake Brewery School (Gakkogura),” a former school building transformed into an active brewery. Welcoming up to 16 guests, explore the School Brewery with Obata Shuzo staff and learn how the former school was reborn as a place to produce sake and preserve Sado’s brewing culture. After the tour, enjoy a guided tasting of 5 to 6 selected sake varieties. A mini-seminar introduces basic sake knowledge, Sado’s terroir, including its climate, water, and rice, and how to taste sake and recognize different flavor profiles. Combining a brewery visit, learning, and tasting, this experience is suitable for both beginners and sake enthusiasts.
