Osaka: Sumo Experience and Show: Ex-Pro Wrestlers & Ring Challenge
- Learn about the deep connection between sumo and Shinto traditions
- Watch former professional sumo wrestlers demonstrate their skills up close
- Get the chance to wear a sumo belt and step into the ring yourself
- Take photos with the wrestlers in the ring to capture the moment
What to expect
While many "sumo shows" in Osaka are designed for tourists, this is not one of them
You’ll meet real former professional wrestlers—men who trained and competed at the highest level in genuine sumo stables under strict professional rules. What you see on the sacred dohyo is authentic sumo, not a performance
Designed by a former educator, the program is structured like a focused lesson: it starts strong, builds your understanding step by step, and keeps you engaged throughout. You'll leave with more than just a spectacle—you'll gain a deeper understanding of sumo’s 1,500-year history, its Shinto roots, the rikishi ranking system, and daily life inside a sumo stable
We’re confident you’ll feel that your time and money were well spent

Reviews
It was a wonderful 90-min show that you can only experience here. The casts were much bigger and more athletic than we had imagined. They were genuine, powerful Sumo wrestlers. You can also learn about Japanese culture, so I highly recommend it even to visitors who don't know about Japan well.
