Tianjin Ancient Culture Street

The Tianjin Ancient Culture Street Tourist Area is located in Nankai District, Tianjin, centered around the Temple of the Heavenly Empress (Tianhou Palace), extending from Shuige Street in the south to Tongbei Road in the north. This is a famous concentration of traditional and handicraft shops in Tianjin, featuring numerous handicrafts such as Yangliuqing New Year paintings, Clay Figure Zhang, and Wei Family Kites. Visitors can also taste local delicacies like Goubuli steamed buns, Jianbing Guozi (fried pancake fruit), and Tianjin Mahua (fried dough twists). The street area boasts historical sites and scenic spots including the Temple of the Heavenly Empress (Tianjin Folk Museum), the Opera House, Tongqingli, and Tianyan Square (the former residence of Yan Fu). Every year on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, during the birthday of the Heavenly Empress, a grand temple fair (Huanghui) is held, featuring folk performances such as dragon dances, lion dances, stilts, and drum dances. The Wuhua Yuan Crosstalk Teahouse, located within Tongqingli on Ancient Culture Street, offers traditional Tianjin crosstalk performances, allowing visitors to experience Tianjin's unique culture.
