What to expect from Kecak dance performance
Prepare to be mesmerized by the enchanting Kecak dance performance, a captivating display of the traditional Balinese Kecak dance.
This ancient sacred dance brings to life the famous epic Hindu story, Ramayana. As the sun begins to set, the rhythmic chanting of the performers, known as ""kecak,"" fills the air, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The Balinese dancers, dressed in vibrant costumes, skillfully depict the characters of the Ramayana story, with Prince Rama taking center stage. The traditional Kecak dance is renowned for its unique portrayal of the Monkey King and the thrilling fire dance performances, where dancers walk through the embers unscathed, symbolizing their divine protection.
Witnessing the traditional Balinese ritual dance is an immersive cultural experience that transports you to the heart of culture and mythology. The intense energy and synchronized movements of the performers, coupled with the dramatic storytelling, captivate audiences of all ages. The sacred dance intertwines with the Balinese belief in the spiritual power of the "sanghyang" dance, where the performers enter a trance-like state, channeling the energy of the divine.

I made a reservation four days in advance, and the 6:00 PM slot was sold out, so I chose 7:00 PM. The same-day tickets also sold out by 6:30 PM, so it's definitely better to book through Klook. The venue only opens after the 6:00 PM show finishes, so the entrance line didn't start moving until 7:00 PM. Seating begins from the upper rows. Those who arrived later had to sit on the ground. Many people also had to stand. Even if you get a seat, it's very cramped, with your shoulders touching the person next to you. The 7:00 PM show actually started at 7:22 PM. The Kecak dance was absolutely wonderful. The front seats offer a closer and more impactful view of the performers. There was heavy traffic both going to and from the venue, but it was well worth seeing, even with that in mind. The sunset was also beautiful, and the waves crashing below the cliff were impressive. The temple is full of mischievous monkeys. My glasses were snatched from behind my head. It seems they target people who are sitting down. Be careful of the monkeys!
The continuous "kecak-kecak" sounds, echoing for an hour without pause, were more than just a performance; they were a truly astonishing, immersive experience. The rhythm, created solely by dozens of voices without any instruments, blended with the lush natural surroundings, providing deep immersion throughout the show. The stage, set against the backdrop of a fiery red sunset, was particularly spectacular. As this is a very popular performance, the on-site ticket office can be extremely crowded. Therefore, we highly recommend booking your tickets in advance through Klook. The QR code issued upon reservation allows you to enter without long waits, saving valuable travel time. Most importantly, it ensures you and your family can enjoy this mystical performance with peace of mind, without worrying about it being sold out.
Wonderful experience. Show started on time at 6 pm. Mesmerizing performance. Hanuman Ji's performance was extraordinary. Reach the place at 5 pm and exchange at online ticket counter and take your seat. Carry umbrella to avoid heat.
Was pretty cool to witness, also being from a different culture I could hear and see some similarities between mine and theirs! Easy and smooth process, also I don’t know if it was the day I went but it’s no longer 50k to enter the temple it’s now 60k but that’s fine. Views on views, I was blessed with a gorgeous day! definitely recommend going once for sure:)
I booked the Kecak Uluwatu & Fire Dance Show through Klook and it turned out to be one of the best experiences in Bali. The whole activity was smooth and well-organized, and the location at Uluwatu Temple made it even more special. The timing was perfect. We arrived just before sunset, and the view from the clifftop was absolutely stunning. Watching the sky change colors while waiting for the show felt magical on its own. The performance was incredible too. The chanting, rhythm, and energy of the dancers created such a powerful atmosphere, and the fire segment at the end was amazing to see live. It felt very authentic and unique, definitely a highlight of my trip. Overall, I highly recommend booking this through Klook. Easy process, beautiful sunset, and a truly unforgettable show! 🌅🔥
Amazing experience, made even more special by the beautiful sunset backdrop. Booking was smooth and well organized, with easy entry and great seating. The show was captivating and offered a wonderful insight into Balinese culture. Definitely a must-see in Bali!
This is my fourth visit to Bali, and this time I saw the Kecak dance for the first time. Many people recommend Melasti Beach, but I chose this place, which was already famous, and watched the 6 pm performance. I arrived around 5 pm, but there were already a lot of people. I thought it might be a bit quiet since it was a weekday and the rainy season was slowly coming, but there was such a crowd that there weren't enough seats. The dance was a bit boring at the beginning, but it gradually became very interesting as the story progressed, and I think it was a satisfying performance for everyone. Due to the fire, the heat was considerable, so I think the 3rd to 5th rows are the best spots for viewing.
Not includes temple entrance ...Have to exchange the ticket which is shorter than buying there, and tickets can be sold out.. very hot , for me watch with sunset is very hot as we all wait in the seats too early to get a good spot., point of watching this is to learn about their religion, maybe ill prefer watching it in a theater ..can be too crowded. area has a very beautiful view of uluwatu
The Kecak & Fire Dance Show at Uluwatu Temple was absolutely mesmerizing! The 1-hour performance combines traditional Balinese dance, hypnotic chanting, and dramatic fire effects; truly an unforgettable cultural experience. Pro tips: Arrive early, around 5 PM, to get a seat with a good view; lower rows are best to feel closer to the action. The ticket counter opens at 5 PM, and you can use the QR code emailed to you to redeem your physical entrance ticket. It’s also helpful to read the storyline synopsis beforehand to fully appreciate the performance. The temple itself is breathtaking, perched on a cliff with stunning ocean views, especially at sunset. Booking through Klook was smooth and hassle-free, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Bali!
The sunset backdrop made it even more magical, creating a picture-perfect setting. Booking through Klook was smooth and convenient. Everything was well-organized, from ticket confirmation to the entrance process. We got great seats and didn’t have to worry about long queues. The whole show gave such a deep insight into Balinese culture and storytelling—it felt both entertaining and spiritual at the same time. Definitely a must-see when visiting Bali!
