Good to know
Make the most of your sushi making class at Tsukiji Fish Market. Many market shops open early and close around 2 PM, so we recommend the 10:30 AM class if you’d also like to explore the market. Arrive a little early to walk around before your class, and bring some yen as some local shops only accept cash. After making your sushi bento, you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of Tokyo. Many guests visit teamLab or other Tokyo attractions in the afternoon. It’s an easy way to combine Tsukiji Fish Market, hands-on sushi making, and more of Tokyo in one day.
Reviews
I joined this sushi-making class on my own and was a little unsure at first, but I felt comfortable almost immediately. The instructor was really friendly, and the group had a relaxed atmosphere. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and I learned that the owner has deep connections with Tsukiji Market. It really showed in the quality of everything we used, from the fish to the real wasabi and Japanese knife. It felt much more special than a normal cooking class. I also loved making my own sushi bento. It was simple to follow, looked surprisingly good at the end, and tasted even better. It only takes about an hour, so it was perfect for fitting into a busy day in Tokyo. I would definitely recommend this to solo travelers who want to do something local, fun, and easy to join. One of my favorite experiences in Tokyo.
experience:A foodie friend in Hong Kong told me about this experience, so I booked it while I was in Tokyo. It was honestly even better than I expected and felt like a really authentic local experience in Tsukiji. equipment:The ingredients were so fresh, and I loved trying real wasabi and using a Japanese knife. Our instructor was warm, friendly, and made everything very easy to follow. My favorite part was seeing the sushi bento I made at the end. It looked so much better than I expected and tasted amazing too. location:The class is only about an hour, so it was easy to fit into our day. I went to teamLab afterwards, which worked perfectly. experience:Really fun, delicious, and memorable. Definitely one of the highlights of my Tokyo trip!
If you want a Real Tokyo experience beyond regular sightseeing, this is a must! This hidden gem of a Sushi Bento Making Class was easily the highlight of my trip. It's the perfect combination of a deep cultural journey and a top-tier culinary masterclass. Our passionate Local host didn't just teach us recipes—they revealed the fascinating history behind Japan's Food Culture. Using premium, incredibly fresh fish sourced directly from the iconic Tsukiji Market, we crafted gorgeous, Instagram-worthy bento boxes. The casual, intimate Small Group Class atmosphere made it super easy to connect with other travelers too. Unbeatable value and purely authentic!
This Sushi Bento Making Class was absolutely! If you're looking for an authentic, hands-on activity, I can't recommend this enough. Our Local host was incredibly knowledgeable and guided us through every step with so much patience and care. We used amazingly fresh ingredients sourced directly from the famous Tsukiji Market, which made the sushi taste incredible! The class was held in a cozy Small Group Class setting, making it perfect for beginners and highly family-friendly for those traveling with kids. Learning about the traditional Food Culture while creating beautiful, delicious art was such a rewarding experience.
The instructor was very friendly, attentive, and professional. Although it was my first time making sushi, he guided me with a lot of patience and helped me prepare it successfully. In addition, he took photos during the experience and shared them with us at the end. I was so thrilled to receive them, as they will be a very special memory of my trip to Japan!
What a fantastic experience! Kenji was an amazing instructor and made everything so easy to understand! I learned how to make nigiri sushi, use a Japanese sushi knife, and make sushi rolls. And the best part? Everything tasted absolutely DELICIOUS! I joined solo this time, but had such a fun and authentic Japanese experience that I'm definitely coming back with my family! I've never finished an activity thinking, I want to do this all over again! until now. Thank you so much, Kenji and the team!!! GOCHISOSAMA !
Great sushi-making experience! Fun, hands-on activity with friendly instructors and delicious sushi at the end. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try something unique in Japan. 🍣😊
I joined this sushi-making class with a friend and my 1-year-old daughter, and we had such a great time! I was a bit worried about bringing my little one, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My daughter loved watching me make sushi, and the staff even brought out some toys for her, which was really sweet! Mia was a fantastic instructor and made everything easy to follow. And the sushi was seriously delicious! The tuna and salmon were incredibly fresh, definitely some of the best we had in Tokyo. Such a lovely experience, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo with young kids!
What an AMAZING experience!! Akiko made the sushi-making class so much fun! I was honestly blown away by the quality of the ingredients and tools. This team has strong connections to Tsukiji Fish Market. I felt like a Michelin-starred chef for a day! The photos of my beautiful sushi bento box are some of my favorite memories from Japan. Definitely one of the highlights of my Tokyo trip! Thank you Akiko and team!!!!
Komi & Mia are wonderful hosts. The class is simple yet informative and perfect for all skill levels. Our preteen son had a great time as well. My husband and I do not order nigiri often back home, but the quality and freshness of the fish made all the difference here. My husband proclaimed that it was the best nigiri he’d had. We greatly enjoyed our self-made bento! Don’t hesitate to take the class with your entire family!
