This day trip actually consists of two half-day tours: a morning trip to Hallstatt, followed by a return to Salzburg city center at midday, and then an afternoon tour of "The Sound of Music" filming locations. The guides for both tours were very professional, providing detailed and humorous explanations. The morning trip to Hallstatt is highly dependent on the weather; there's an observation deck on the mountain offering panoramic views of the entire lake district, but the cable car ticket is an additional cost. Alternatively, you can simply walk around the town and enjoy its atmosphere. In the afternoon, you'll visit several filming locations from "The Sound of Music." Most allow you to get off the bus to explore and take photos, while a few are viewed from the tour bus. "The Sound of Music" soundtrack is also played on the bus, which really helps you immerse yourself in the movie's scenes and atmosphere.

we had a very enjoyable time for both tours especially the sound of music tour. guide was good & really hyped up the atmosphere with singalong in the bus. Hallsatt tour was too rush though with the time constraint.

Very enthusiastic guide! Only thing is that the tour comes in 2 parts: We head back to Salzaburg pick up point after Halstatt, to restart our journey for Sound of Music tour. Other than that, had a good time!

Husband and I enjoyed the tour so much, visited Hallstatt am and sound of music pm. We sing along with the tour guide on the bus, it was a fun memorable moment.

Hubby and I booked the two Panorama Bus tours through Klook. The Hallstatt tour was in the morning, then the Sound of Music tour was right after, in the afternoon.
Both tours are MUST DO when you visit Salzburg! Hallstatt is a lovely town to tour, while the Sound of Music tour brings you to most of the filming locations, including spending time at the Mirabell Gardens while singing DoReMi.
The tour guides -- Sylvia for the Hallstatt tour and Maria for the Sound of Music tour (what a fitting name!) -- were both entertaining, knowledgeable and helpful. The whole day was very fulfilling (although tiring, as expected).
If you have more time, a suggestion is to do the Hallstatt tour on one day and the Sound of Music tour on another, so that you can have more time to explore Hallstatt. The half-day Hallstatt tour was enough to give us a flavor and experience the beauty of the place, but we would have wanted a bit more time to explore.
