This was such a wonderful experience! I highly recommend. My husband and I did this together along with the chopstick making class. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. We happened to work with Umar for both experiences and he was so great! Took the time to show each step and help with Amy questions we had. The Kintsugi art is such a fun craft! They have one design that is included or you can upgrade to other designs on your plate/bowl. we chose to just do the one that was included. If you're in Tokyo I definitely recommend making time for this.
Kumiko was really nice as our instructor guiding the whole experience and giving us some background on the Kintsugi art! ✨ it was very easy to find the place and the experience was incredible. we left with our art piece to bring it home :)
excellent experience to learn Kintsugi. excellent facilities, with several classes going on simultaneously, but the staff were helpful going around everyone ensuring they were all happy doing the different steps to their chosen project. chopstick making and knife making also offered at the same studio.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. Sui was warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole process feel accessible — even for a complete beginner. The studio was easy to find, well-equipped, and had a really relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. We left not only with a beautiful piece to take home, but genuinely feeling restored. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something creative and a little bit meditative.”
This is a perfect fun family experience and a great souvenir to take home. April and Akey made this experience even better, they were super helpful and informative. We highly recommend it, would come back!
Amazing experience and one of the funniest things we did in Tokyo! We joined the Kintsugi workshop in Asakusa and honestly had such a great time. Our teacher, Akei, was the best — super kind, patient, funny, and somehow managed to keep control of our very “serious” international art competition. Our group was clearly the best group: me Slovenian, my friend Italian, and two girls from Australia that we met there. Very quickly, the peaceful Japanese art of Kintsugi turned into a high-pressure world championship of ceramic repairing. Everyone was pretending to be calm and artistic, but inside we all wanted to win. 😄 And of course… the winner was me. No surprise. Akei didn’t officially give me a trophy, but I think everyone knew the truth. We laughed a lot, learned something beautiful about Japanese culture, and left with great memories and our own golden repaired pieces. Highly recommend this workshop — especially if you are ready to possibly destroy your new friends in competition.
Had an amazing time learning how to traditionally repair broken items. We upgraded to the wave and mt Fuji plate. it was so much fun we absolutely loved it!
I just finished a Kintsugi pottery workshop with Betty and April, and it was honestly one of the most healing experiences I’ve had. As someone currently moving through a divorce and trying to rebuild parts of myself, there was something incredibly a life moment about sitting with broken pieces and learning how to mend them with care instead of hiding the cracks. Betty and April held the session with so much warmth, gentleness, and intention. You could feel how much thought and heart they poured into every detail. The calm and safe atmosphere they created. I never once felt rushed or out of place. Instead, I felt grounded and reflective. Today’s session taught me that brokenness is not something to be ashamed of, but something that can become part of your story and your beauty. Thank you, Betty and April, for creating such a meaningful space. I’ll carry both the piece I made and the experience itself with me for a very long time
🌟 Wonderful experience in Tokyo! This Kintsugi workshop was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan, and much of the credit goes to our fantastic guide, Azusa! Azusa is such a sweet, welcoming, and incredibly patient person. With her contagious passion and a wonderful smile, she guided us step by step through the art of repairing ceramics with gold, explaining the profound philosophy behind this craft with great clarity. Thanks to her, we immediately felt at ease and managed to create a unique and meaningful souvenir. If you are looking for an authentic and special experience in Tokyo, you cannot miss this. Azusa is simply extraordinary: highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had really fun experience with my workshop for Kintsugi. It is a really fun experience. Everybody was very knowledgeable and kind. I did not have any issues with conversing in English. It is a really fun way to explore the arts and crafts workshops in Tokyo. Saira was very helpful in helping me with the whole process and history of Kintsugi.
