This was an eye opener and for anyone mildly interested in the history of China a "Must Do". It's estimated that 8 million people visit this site every year and the reverence in which many Chinese people hold Mao is obvious. During our visit there were hundreds of Chinese in groups paying tribute to his memory; laying wreaths and bunches of flowers at the foot of a giant statue; bowing in respect; chanting slogans or singing revolutionary songs. Our guide, Kathy, who was born in the same town as Mao, was a font of knowledge. A visit is well worthwhile if your interest extends beyond pandas and the usual tourist traps and you would like a better understanding what makes modern day China tick.

Round-trip transportation: Air-conditioned tourist buses are used throughout the entire journey. Vehicle sizes are arranged based on the number of passengers, ensuring one proper seat per person.
Scenic spot tickets: The Comrade Mao Zedong Memorial Museum (Biographical Exhibition Area) is closed on Mondays and will be replaced with a visit to the Thematic Exhibition Area (formerly the Comrade Mao Zedong Relics Museum). In the event that other scenic spots/attractions are closed and cannot be visited, no alternative attractions will be added, and no compensation will be provided.
Itinerary meals: Meals are not included throughout the journey. The recommended restaurants during the trip are among the most representative local catering establishments, aiming to promote and celebrate Hunan's culinary culture.
Shopping: There are no designated shopping stores throughout the journey. Each scenic spot is equipped with a shopping area as part of its basic commercial facilities, which are not designated shopping stores of the travel agency.
Liability insurance: Our company already includes travel agency liability insurance. Accident insurance is to be purchased voluntarily by tourists. In the event of an accident, the insurance company will provide compensation according to the terms of the insurance contract (participating in this itinerary means it is defaulted that the tourist has already purchased accident insurance).
