Kurobe Tateyama & Kamikochi Autumn Scenery Two-Day Tour: Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route & Kamikochi Hiking (Departing from Nagoya)

On the first day, it was cloudy when we visited Kamikochi. While a little disappointing, the scenery in the photos still turned out beautiful. If we had been lucky enough to have a sunny day, the pictures would have surely been even more stunning (as long as it wasn't raining, that is). On the second day, we went to Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. We were incredibly fortunate to see the sun in the morning (the weather forecast for the previous day had predicted rain all day). Although we couldn't escape the rain in the afternoon, the views we captured at the summit in the morning were truly breathtaking. Finally, I want to extend a special thank you to our tour guide, Amy, and our hardworking driver. They truly went above and beyond, tirelessly planning and traveling for the entire trip, which allowed us to have perfect memories and experiences. This entire trip deserves a 5-star rating. Highly, highly recommend!

Despite the language barrier, I had a wonderful time during my 2-day trip. It started raining as soon as I arrived in Kamikochi, but the scenery was absolutely beautiful. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, with its six different modes of transportation, created truly unforgettable memories. Even though I traveled alone, I was grateful for the kindness of other travelers who looked out for me. Many thanks to our driver for the long journey and to our guide, Kris!

For the two-day trip on May 12-13, the driver drove quite fast, and the tour guide managed the time well. We had 3.5 hours in Kamikochi, and while the schedule was tighter at Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, we still had 2 hours in Murodo. The hotel staff were very friendly, and the place had a somewhat nostalgic feel.

The weather was great that day, and the scenery at Kamikochi was beautiful. Our tour leader, Tomoka, was excellent and took great care of the group members and non-surfing participants, being very responsible. I will definitely come again next time.

Thank you to our guide Amanda, who did her best. We came for the Tateyama itinerary, which was a bit tiring as we had to wake up early. The guide led everyone through the mountains and valleys, keeping to the schedule. The scenery of the Chubu and Hokuriku regions is definitely worth visiting. Next time, I'll come back and explore Kanazawa and Toyama as well. We were very lucky with the weather this time, seeing both snow and autumn colors.

The itinerary is great, however we felt that Oct is not a good time as it rained a lot on both days. My recommendation is to book this trip last minute after you have an idea on how the weather looks like in the next few days. Kamikochi is great, it's an old town with views if nature. Pond and bridge were easy to navigate. However it is a large area and we didn't had enough time to explore the temple on the east side. I wish there was more time in Kamikochi. Hotel looks good, dinner and breakfast also good, with decent portions. As for Day 2, the weather was bad, 6 different transportation gives us a nice view of the mountains. It was very cloudy though, so I can just imagine how the view looks like on a clear day. Guide Amy took care of us. Do not be late though, we were late for 5 mins on 1 stop and got an earful from her. Another group was late for 30 mins in 1 stop which caused us to miss the train (had to take the next one) and she was really upset and let the group know.

My guide Tomika and drive Yoike san (I hope I spelt their names correctly) were very responsible and took great care of the group. We went to Kamikochi on its last opening day and were lucky to have great weather. Same for Tateyama Kurobe dam, it was bright and sunny though very cold, and we were told by so many different staff how lucky we were to experience the great weather as it is so rare. Tomika has great initiative and coordinated well with staff onsite to allow a seamless experience for us, we had more then ample time at Tateyama peak with her planning. Highly recommended!

Our tour guide was absolutely amazing! They were very knowledgeable about history and excellent at leading the group. They knew all the best local foods, and we had plenty of time at each stop to truly enjoy the scenery along the way!

Our tour guide, Ms. Zhang, was excellent. She introduced us to the attractions of Kamikochi and Tateyama Kurobe, led the way, and even helped us take photos. Her professionalism was top-notch!
