What to expect
During the Edo period, the Shikama Kaido, which was developed from the port of Shikamatsu towards Himeji Castle, became part of the "Silver Mine Road," an industrial road that connected the Ikuno Silver Mine, once one of Japan's leading silver mines, to the port of Shikamatsu, and its vestiges remain today. This is a 3-hour cycling tour that follows the historical path, aiming for the pleasant sea breeze of Himeji Port, and guiding you to cycling roads on abandoned railway tracks and quaint sake breweries.
