The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is a world-renowned winter festival in South Korea. When everything is covered with ice and snow in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, famous for its clean sea where sancheoneo and otters live. The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is recognized as one of the world’s four major winter festivals and was selected as Korea’s representative festival in 2014. In January, at the depths of winter, the cold valley wind and clean water meet, making the earliest and thickest ice in the nation, a winter festival is held in Hwacheon, where more than a million people have visited 6 years in a row. It is a winter festival with unique theme, with over 30 kinds of various experience programs and things to see.

The tour was great. The driver showed us exactly how to go ice fishing and I caught 3 fishes in the shortest amount of time that morning. He also offered to take photos during the day. It’s too bad the weather didn’t allow ice sledding which was not included. Overall it was a fun tour!
This itinerary was great, especially our driver who not only taught us how to fish and helped everyone catch a fish, but also took special care of a friend who wasn't feeling well during the car ride today. This ice fishing experience was really wonderful.
Absolute value for money! We caught fish, we ate fish and had plenty of time wandering around the ice festival. The Garden of Morningcalm was also impressive. Be prepared for a long day but well worth the experience.
A high-value small group tour with a very punctual itinerary. We arrived in Hwacheon at 10 a.m. The driver was very familiar with the area and took us directly to the fishing spot. In less than 30 minutes, every member of the group successfully caught three fish! The tour fee included not only the fishing ticket but also a grilled fish for lunch! In addition, the Garden of Morning Calm Lighting Festival is also well worth seeing! It would be perfect if the driver could take a few minutes to introduce the attractions around Hwacheon!
The tour guide was very enthusiastic in teaching how to fish. We successfully caught a lot of fish, making it a worthwhile trip. The timing was well-planned to avoid crowds.
