Shirakawa-go Gassho Village & Hida Takayama Old Town One-Day Tour (Departing from Nagoya) - Guaranteed Departure for 1 Person

Jenny was an amazing tour guide! Even though we were the only English speaking guests on the tour, she made sure we understood everything clearly and never felt left out. She was very considerate and even asked for our preferences on which places to visit first, balancing everyone’s interests in the group. Our group was small enough to fit into a coaster, though it was a bit tight and not the most comfortable ride. As for the itinerary, the 2 hour stop at Takayama Old Town was just right. we had enough time to explore enjoy local specialties like Hida beef sushi and honey ice cream. However, the 2 hour stay at Shirakawa-go felt a bit short since there were still many areas we couldn’t visit. There was also about a 30 minute wait for the shuttle to the observatory due to the number of tourists. Just a heads-up: the shuttle costs ¥300 per person each way. Overall, the tour was excellent. well-organized, informative, and absolutely worth the money. Highly recommended!

This was a great trip to visit Takayama and Shirakawa. The tour guide John Lee is friendly and provided helpful tips on options where to eat and visit. He also shared the history of these two places. The trip well organised and all on schedule. The driver is friendly and safe driving.

Due to the snow, many sections of the highway were closed, causing severe traffic congestion. We departed at 8:10 AM and were stuck in traffic for over an hour, shortening each leg of the trip by about half an hour. Our tour guide, John Lee, was great and did a good job managing the time. He provided information about history, routes, famous attractions, and local snacks. He is fluent in three languages and switched between them freely during his presentations; our group was like a small United Nations. There was a minor incident before leaving the last stop: an Indonesian girl couldn't find her way back and got lost. Thankfully, the tour guide went to the rescue and found her after about 20 minutes. It was a close call! Luckily, it happened before departure, or the trip would have been ruined. The roads from Nagoya to Takayama and Shirakawa-go were closed the next day, and many modes of transportation were suspended. We were very lucky. In conclusion, it was a wonderful trip.

I'm so glad I bought this tour for my trip to Nagoya. The driver drove very smoothly, and the tour guide introduced great routes and attractions. The travelers on this trip were also very punctual, and the weather was quite nice, allowing us to go out and have fun comfortably, safely, and happily. The two hours allotted for both Hida Mountain and Shirakawa-go were relatively good, and both were great to explore. Especially if you want to see the observation deck, you'll need time to walk up there, and you might accidentally spend too long exploring. Seeing the scenery and eating delicious food made it a wonderful trip.

Meet up point is easy to find, tour guide Zhang is professional, courteous, and respectful. Spent sometime to translate her instruxtions to English as we were the only ones who does not speak mandarin. Hida Takayama is a good old town, must try the Hida Beef. Shirakawago view point is a must see. It's a 15 minute hike and you will be rewarded with a nice view of Shirakawago. We were given 2 hours on each location, I felt that it was a bit short. Maybe 2.5 hours is just right.

What a fantastic experience! This was my first time joining a Klook day tour abroad. The night before the trip, seeing the pre-departure instructions sent by the tour guide via email made me feel much more at ease. Throughout the journey, our guide, Mr. Wang, fluently introduced the attractions and provided various reminders to travelers in Chinese, English, and Japanese. He was very professional! The entire itinerary ran very smoothly, and the timing was perfectly managed. Although Shirakawa-go in the summer doesn't have its classic snow-covered scenery, the lush green landscape offers a different kind of beauty.

We had an amazing trip to Shirakawago and Takayama thru this tour and we enjoyed thoroughly every moment! We had a great tour guide and highly recommend this tour!

This was more of a transportation stop than a guided tour, but I honestly didn’t mind at all — Shirakawa-go is a MUST-VISIT, especially in winter. ❄️ It feels absolutely magical, and I wish everyone could see it in person at least once. Takayama also has amazing food and is such a fun place to walk around. Highly recommend this trip!

A 100-point experience, with a well-planned trip. Our tour guide, Wang, was responsible and professional – a rare find among young, excellent guides! Shirakawa-go is truly worth visiting; the scenery is beautiful. Although we didn't go up to the observation deck, spending time taking photos and experiencing life around the houses was even better. We quietly enjoyed the old Japanese way of life without disturbing the local residents.
