Whether it's your first visit to Karuizawa or you want to relive the highland resort atmosphere, this popular day trip is not to be missed.
- Karuizawa Shiraito Falls (白糸の滝) Shiraito Falls, located in Karuizawa Town, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, is one of Karuizawa’s most iconic natural attractions. Unlike typical waterfalls formed by rivers, the water source of Shiraito Falls comes from the groundwater of Mount Asama, naturally emerging from the rock face to form a stream like silk threads, hence the name “Shiraito Falls.”
- Old Karuizawa Ginza Street Old Karuizawa Ginza Street is Karuizawa’s most representative shopping street and a must-visit strolling spot for many tourists. This street retains the elegant atmosphere of a summer resort, blending European-style villa culture, historic buildings, famous gourmet restaurants, and unique souvenir shops, making it the best place to experience the charm of Karuizawa.
- St. Paul’s Catholic Church St. Paul’s Catholic Church, located near Old Karuizawa Ginza Street, is one of Karuizawa’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit spot for many tourists on their strolls. The church was built in 1935 and designed by the famous architect Antonin Raymond, blending Western church and natural forest styles, complementing Karuizawa’s summer resort culture.
- Kumoba Pond Kumoba Pond, located between Karuizawa Station and Old Karuizawa, is one of Karuizawa’s most famous autumn foliage viewing spots. The lake surface is as calm as a mirror, reflecting the surrounding forests and sky, earning it the nickname “Swan Lake.” Every autumn, the fiery red maple leaves and their reflections on the lake complement each other, attracting many photography enthusiasts.
- Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza Located next to the South Exit of JR Karuizawa Station, it is one of Japan’s largest resort-style outlets. The shopping center is surrounded by mountains and greenery, combining shopping, dining, and leisure facilities, allowing travelers to enjoy a relaxed and pleasant shopping experience amidst natural scenery. It boasts approximately 240 brand stores, offering everything from international luxury goods and outdoor sports equipment to unique Japanese products.

Reviews
We neglected to realize that this wasnt an english tour, but the tour guide (carp) so kindly accommodated us anyway! All the places we went to were so cool. The trip was an overall massive success on our end!
This trip happened to coincide with the Emperor of Japan's birthday holiday, and there was traffic on the road, but thank you to Ms. Fumiko and the driver for arranging the itinerary so well. The itinerary was great, it's just a pity that there wasn't enough time for shopping, but they did their best. I recommend this trip!
The itinerary was packed and comprehensive. Although the time spent at each attraction was a bit short due to the long distances, almost all major sights were included, making it a very worthwhile tour. The guide was responsible and dedicated, and enthusiastically answered questions. I highly recommend this tour.
The tour guide was attentive, the itinerary was rich and covered must-see attractions in Karuizawa. It's suitable for families, offers great value for money, and is highly recommended. Different seasons bring different changes. 😁
Honestly, the sightseeing spots in Karuizawa were far less attractive and the non-stop rain made it even worse. However, the price of this tour was very economical and the price alone already covered the transportation cost going back and fro between Tokyo and Karuizawa. Our Korean lady tour guide did her best to make sure everyone in this 34 persons group following the scheduled time. The coach driver was very experienced as well.
The driver was very polite from start to finish. The itinerary changed a bit because it was raining when we arrived, but we completed everything. I often visit Japan, and if there's a suitable tour, I'll definitely join again. I frequently purchase various tickets and eSIMs from Klook.
This was a great trip; both the guide and driver were very professional. It was safe, efficient, and the schedule and itinerary were well-planned. It's a highly recommended trip. The first stop was Shiraito Falls, which would be quite difficult to reach without a private car. Even if you rent a car, you'd have to navigate winding mountain roads. At the second stop, Ginza-dori, the guide introduced many famous shops.
Thank you to our driver for the hard work! During the trip, we'll remind you that if you need to use the restroom at any point due to the long drive, please feel free to let us know. The other members of our group were also amazing and very cooperative with the schedule.🫶🏻
Highly recommended tour! Although it takes three to four hours each way for a one-way trip, Karuizawa in the maple leaf season is totally worth it! The tour guide, Ms. Feng, is responsible and diligent, and her control and notification of the time are clear and understandable, allowing the trip to proceed smoothly!
Karuizawa is a great summer retreat with its beautiful scenery and cool climate. Cycling around the lake, strolling through the streets of Old Karuizawa, and enjoying desserts and coffee are refreshing and leave unforgettable memories. Our enthusiastic tour leader guided us through this wonderful trip.
