Reviews
This trip's transportation was very punctual. The driver would text us via Kakao before sending a picture of the car and telling us where and what time he'd pick us up. It was great! We woke up early and were ready to go (it was very cold, rainy, and windy, but we still went). When the driver arrived, he had us get in and said, "Good morning! Where are you from?" We answered, "Thailand." The driver joked that he had picked up people from Thailand and would be picking up two more people from Taipei today. After saying that, we set off from Hongdae to Myeongdong. After picking them up, we went straight to Suwon according to the plan. The first stop was the Starfield Library. I don't know how the driver drove, but I fell asleep as soon as the car started, so I guess he drove well. When we arrived, the mall wasn't open yet. The driver told us it was on the 4th floor and to go up. And the next stop was Chicken Street (we were so confused and blamed the app for translating it wrong). We went to eat fried chicken! We ordered two dishes, one regular fried and one with Korean sauce. And I just realized now that "whole chicken" means a whole chicken. It came as one chicken, but divided into two types. We finished eating, a bit confused, but it was a lot, so we had to take some back. The next place was a palace. I don't remember the name, but the bathroom was great. They let us into the palace, but we just went to the bathroom because it was cold. But we went into the palace for a bit. I don't remember how much it cost to enter. And the last stop was Son Jae's house. It wasn't hard to find. The driver gave directions. The driver was great. He was both a driver and a guide. I'm impressed. This trip is over!
We were so lucky that only the two of us signed up that day. It turned into a private chartered tour, which was awesome! And the local travel agency was very thoughtful. They arrange guides according to the nationality/language of the travelers. When we arrived at the meeting point, we found a beautiful guide. The first sentence she said was familiar Chinese, which was great! After chatting, we found out she was a fellow Taiwanese! And because we were the only customers, they customized the itinerary for us. In addition to the original itinerary attractions, they helped us with directions and photos at the drama filming locations we wanted to go to. We didn't understand Korean at all, and the guide helped us communicate and translate throughout the entire trip, which reduced a lot of the burden of language barriers. Thank you so much to our guide Tina! Beautiful, kind, and super friendly~ Highly recommend this experience to Taiwanese people who like Suwon or want to visit the Sunjae drama filming locations!!
Although Suwon isn't too far from Seoul, it still takes quite a while by subway, so it's great that you can take the train in the morning without getting too tired! Basically, the classic Suwon attractions (Starfield Library, Paldalmun Market, Hwaseong Fortress) are all included in the itinerary. Because the schedule is so chill, it doesn't feel rushed at all, and you can use the free time to go to the attractions you want or eat what you want (e.g., Haenggung-dong, select shops, cafes, K-drama filming locations, etc.). You can wander around until you're tired and then take the train back to Seoul. I recommend this to anyone who wants to take a short trip outside of Seoul but doesn't want to be tied down!
We had originally booked a slightly different itinerary, but the tour changed and there were not enough participants on our original date. The organisers were very efficient and communicated the changes and our options clearly. We and another pair ended up with a private van and driver, who dropped us at all the pick-up points on the itinerary. The whole process was very easy. The itinerary and meeting point instructions were very clear. We even had a K-drama list sent to us on Google Maps so we could find the locations ourselves, which was so helpful. We had almond lattes in the cafe which they filmed Sol's house in Lovely Runner, and the small shop they also filmed at had some Lovely Runner merchandise as well. Starfield Library in Suwon is much better than the one in Gangnam, and we had plenty of time to shop in the department store as well. There was also a reenactment at the temporary palace near the fortress which was great. Very impressed with the tour organisers!
A day trip to Suwon is definitely worth it! The private car pick-up and drop-off at designated points is super convenient, saving you a lot of time without having to transfer between vehicles yourself. The itinerary is rich and fulfilling. Shopping and eating at Starfield in the morning is great. Afterward, you can experience the local atmosphere at Paldalmun Market. In the afternoon, visit Hwaseong Fortress and then chill at a cafe. The overall pace is comfortable and not rushed. It's a satisfying and highly recommended trip!
First time visiting Suwon, the Starfield Library is great for photos, and it's also nice to take a walk around Hwaseong Fortress. The Nam-Mun Tongdak (chicken) in the market is pretty good, and there's a martial arts performance at Hwaseong at 2 PM that you can check out! The strawberry cake at the Notting Hill cafe is delicious, highly recommend!
The overall itinerary was wonderfully arranged! There was plenty of time to slowly tour and browse the Starfield Library, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, and Korean drama filming locations. The meeting point can be chosen as Hongdae, and the round-trip private car is also convenient and comfortable. I recommend it to those who want to take a relaxing stroll near Seoul and are interested in history and culture!
A day trip to Suwon is super fulfilling! The Starfield Library is beautiful, and walking along the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is really healing. Afterward, you can eat local snacks at the Paldalmun Market, especially the must-try Nammoon Chicken. You can also see many Korean drama filming locations, and as you walk around, you'll recognize familiar scenes. It's a highly recommended day trip.
Enjoy round-trip private car service to designated locations. Visit Suwon's famous Starfield Library, experience the Paldalmun Market and taste recommended fried chicken, tour Hwaseong Fortress, and even see the filming locations of the male and female protagonists' homes from "Lovely Runner". If you're unsure where to go from Seoul, Suwon is a great choice, only about an hour away.
A day trip to Suwon combines history (Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Haenggung Palace) with modernity (Starfield Library), offering a rich cultural experience. Suitable for history buffs and those who want to slow down, it's not far from Seoul but offers private car service, making it very comfortable.
