Hue Historic Citadel & Dong Ba Market Half-Day Tour

We were able to experience an extremely informative and interesting tour of the Citadel of Hue and the Dong Ba Market. Our local guide Hoa is very friendly, speaks excellent English, and is very knowledgeable about the history of Hue and Vietnam. We can definitely recommend the tour.

Our guide Mr Hoa gave excellent explanations on the huge Imperial City which is really worth the visit. This tour doesn’t include price of the ticket into the Imperial City. But it includes a meal at the Dong Ba market which is a 15 mins pleasant walk from the Citadel.

The tour was great! I love teaching my child history through real-life experiences, so this tour was incredibly meaningful. The guide was very gentle and sweet, just like Hue itself, haha.

my tour guide was amazing! extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions about Vietnam, even those not related to the imperial city. we had to get a grab between the imperial city and market but it was no problem. bowl of bun bo hue included with market portion of tour. highly recommend.

Worthwhile tour. HOA was a knowledgeable and kindly guide. He explained a lot about the Citadel and it's history and detail. Bun bo Hue at the markets was a good and tasty end. The Citadel is so large it probably deserves a 6 hour tour.

Hoa was an amazing and kind guide! Apart from his amazing and uncomplicated explanations about the history of the citadel, he also booked a Grab to the market even if it was a walking tour because of the hot weather. He also prepared bottled water for us and let us enjoy our breakfast first before starting. These considerate details made the tour special.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Hue Imperial City and Dong Ba Market. It was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Hue. Our guide, Hoa, had an incredibly rich knowledge of history and culture. We asked many questions, and she kindly and thoroughly explained each one. She didn't just stick to a set script; she tailored her explanations to our questions, sharing various stories and historical backgrounds, which made the tour even more engaging. We aren't very proficient in English and had difficulty understanding local English accents. Hoa immediately noticed this and used ChatGPT to translate her explanations into Korean for us. Thanks to her, we didn't miss any important information, and we were truly touched by her thoughtful consideration. She maintained a comfortable atmosphere throughout the tour and did her best to help us gain a deeper understanding of Hue's history and culture. I confidently recommend Guide Hoa to anyone visiting Hue. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for us today!

Nyugen was a great guide for us, thoroughly walked us through the citadel compound and buildings, then a stop at cho dong ba for bun bo hue and helped us find some stalls/bargaining.
