What is Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Located just two hours from Tokyo near the gateway to the World Heritage site of Nikko, Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura is one of Japan’s largest cultural theme parks.

Spanning a massive area roughly equivalent to 12 Tokyo Domes, the park features a realistically reconstructed townscape from the Edo period. Stepping inside feels as though you have traveled back in time to an era when samurai and ninjas walked the streets.

Inside the park, you can do much more than just watch Japanese culture—you can experience it firsthand through thrilling ninja shows, elegant Oiran (courtesan) processions, samurai cultural workshops, traditional performing arts, and authentic Edo-period cuisine.

By dressing up in a traditional kimono or samurai attire and wandering the town, you become a character in the history of the Edo period yourself. As an immersive theme park where everyone from children to adults can enjoy Japanese history, culture, performing arts, and food all day long, we welcome many guests from both Japan and around the world.

This summer, join your family and friends to enjoy a unique, extraordinary Edo experience that you can only find here.

Pre-purchase Nikko Edo Village tickets on Klook. When you arrive, just give the Klook ticket QR code to the staff to scan, and you can enter easily and save time in purchasing tickets. We experienced the style of the Edo period in Nikko Edo Village. The streets, ninja towns, buildings, etc. in the theme park are full of the antique atmosphere of the Edo period. Moreover, we can experience the barbecue senbei in the theme park for an additional 250 yen and experience Edo culture firsthand. In addition, there are several theaters in Nikko Edo Village, where we watched ninja action dramas, witty comedies, and oiran parades. It is worth a visit!

This was a must see in my daughters list. She dressed as an edo princess and had the staff bow and treat her as such. We went on a Monday and it was a lovely quiet change from Tokyo. We went for the day from Tokyo. Nice to walk around, plenty of photo spots, feed some koi and challenge yourself in the maze and samurai’s training house. The samurai show was done really well. We understood what was happening even though it was in Japanese. A fun family day.

Edo Wonderland is an absolute must-visit! It’s an incredibly immersive experience that perfectly captures the atmosphere of the Edo period. The attention to detail in the architecture, the authentic costumes, and the high-quality ninja and theater performances are truly impressive. The staff are exceptionally dedicated, staying in character throughout the park, which makes the whole day feel like stepping back in time. Forget about being a tourist. Don a kimono and blend in. It’s a fantastic, fun-filled destination for families and history buffs alike. Highly recommended!

Such a wonderful experience! We dressed up and wandered the location. Had some Japanese comedy theater and even a (I think) a random action play in one of the street of Edo. Very entertaining! Unfortunately, pictures taken cannot justify the actual beauty of the place. Redemption of ticket is very seamless as well

Present the Klook QR code at the ticket counter to receive physical tickets. This theme park is fantastic! I regret not renting a costume because it's the perfect place for magnificent photos, as the scenery truly immerses you in old Edo. The park staff are lovely. Don't miss the various shows, especially the Oiran procession (daily schedule available on the park's website). We spent the morning at Toshogu Temple, then from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the park, and that was more than enough time. A MUST-DO! Note: There's a free shuttle from Nikko JR Station. For the return trip, ask the park office to call a taxi to Kosagoe Station (1,500¥) and use your pass to return to Shimo Imaichi Station (you can take the Spacia X by reserving a Limited Express ticket via the TOBU line website – the standard ticket is included with the pass). This is the only place where you'll find customizable Daruma dolls.

Shows: Amazing! There are so many shows to enjoy in Edo. All the shows are excellent, but you can't record them with a camera or phone, so you'll truly immerse yourself in the experience. This is a highly recommended place that you must visit in Japan. However, my advice is to check the free bus schedule to the location so you don't miss it.

Review for: Edo Wonderland Ticket

Edo Wonderland is a theme park that recreates the life and culture of the Edo period in Japan. I visited this park with my friends and we had a blast. The park has various attractions, such as ninja shows, samurai sword fights, geisha performances, and historical museums. We also enjoyed dressing up in traditional costumes and taking photos with the actors. The park is very authentic and immersive, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the souvenir shops have a lot of unique items. I highly recommend this park to anyone who wants to experience the history and culture of Japan in a fun and interactive way. It was one of the best experiences I had in Japan.

Ahhh, our Nikko highlight. You can easily spend a whole day there. Lots of activities, shows, and the entire place is authentically designed for the Edo period. We dressed as princess and samurai for the day. Those who say that it is only good for kids don’t know what they’re talking about. There are stuff for both adults and kids. Free shuttle bus in front of the JR Nikko statoon arrived per the timetables. Would love to do it all again.

It was a great experience! It felt like you traveled back in time to the Edo period. The place and architecture really resembles back in those days and the staff dressed up as such as well. You can even rent clothes back in that era to blend in with the place.

Yes. In Edo times there were many types of unique jobs, a selection of them are available for children to experience. This is a historically accurate program for children 5 to 12 years old, for example:

  • At completion, participants will be presented with a certificate.
  • Parent or guardian must be present at the time of registration
  • Registration opens 1 hour before the experience starts, and closes 10 minutes before the experience starts
  • Maximum of 20 participants for each experience, first in first served basis.

There is entertainment all year round in Edo. Starting with New Year celebrations, there’s also Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day) and Tanabata - rituals for every season. Every year we cook up spectacular events for the holidays in May and the summer holidays. What’s more, there are heaps of special experiences such as Edo WonderNight. The Edo townspeople always look forward to these special times.
