Yasaka Residence is a large mansion built by a wealthy businessman who made a fortune from the traditional Chinese medicine "Rokushomaru" in the early Showa era. After the war, it was owned by Shochiku Films and became a stay for film directors and screen stars filming in Kyoto during the golden age of Japanese cinema. Not only does the building have exquisite craftsmanship, but it also has a vast Japanese garden of about 100 square meters, with different scenery throughout the seasons.
