What to expect
The trip begins with a pickup from your hotel in Kathmandu. It is believed that countless eons ago, a prince named Mahasattva, driven by compassion, sacrificed his own body to a starving tigress and her cubs. This ultimate act of selflessness is what the stupa at NamoBuddha commemorates. Later, when the Buddha visited this site, he recognized it as the place where he had previously made this selfless sacrifice. In reverence, he named the place "Namo Buddha," meaning "Homage to the Buddha."
