Reviews
Reviews summaryEverything is very well arranged and organised. Right from picked up till end of hike. The accommodation lodge at Kinabalu park was fantastic. The hike was rather tough though especially the one at 2.30am to the summit. Need to pay addition to the guide and transport back to accommodation as exceeded the stipulated time though.
Booking for mountain guide and etc can be done on the same morning if you doing it quite last minutes. Overall, great experience and I was lucky to be having a very patience mountain guide to hike with me. The meal provided is very good and well balance. Be sure to pack light and always recommend the sticks, it helps with the knee coming down
Wow! What a seamless experience! Borneo Calling did a great job organizing this hike for us. We were pleased with everything including the twp-way transfer to KT City and Mt. Kinabalu. Not to mention our mountain guide, Hafisz. He was amazing! Just a note: Please be a responsible hiker and train for this mountain at least 2 months in advance if you are not a very active person. Include lots of cardio and Stairmaster workouts so that you won't suffer! I saw too many people break their bones or sprain their ankles. And some simply couldn't summit. This mountain requires a lot of stamina and leg strength!
The tour was well planned by the travel agency. Travel agency handling the tour is borneo calling. My guide provided by them was very informative and engaging, making the hike up less dull.
the tour company borneo calling was so organised ! the point of person Mei, gave timely updates and checks to ensure that everything goes smoothly! on the day we arrived at the kinabalu lodges, the check in was smooth, rooms were very clean ! on the day of the hike, we were introduced to our mountain guide: Sofian. He was so nice and encouraging during our hike up and as well on the way down. We can see that safety was the number one priority during the whole hike. the weather was not the best. there was heavy rain on the first day as we hiked up to panalaban and it was told that if the weather remains rainy, the hike to the peak may be cancelled. Luckily however, the rain cleared but it remained cloudy at the top. it was often also explained to look out for signs and symptoms of altitude sickness which was very important. The hike up to Low's peak is tough however worth it. highly recommend! still not an easy hike
Climbing the mountain required a lot of physical strength and endurance, but thanks to the trekking friends and guides from various countries who climbed the mountain along with the beautiful scenery, I felt great happiness and reward. I was satisfied with the pick-up, drop-off, meals, and facilities. Unfortunately, the summit was closed due to rain, so I couldn't conquer it, but I didn't feel too bad because I thought I had surpassed my limits. I want to try again next time.
It was challenging throughout the 2 days but worthwhile when i managed to reach the summit with the motivation from fellow hikers. Mei from Borneo Calling was the organiser for this climb, she did a fantastic job to ensure everything was sorted right from the start to the end!!!
I highly recommend this trip. From the beginning, the other party's contact and answers to questions were clear and timely. The driver who picked us up on the first day had a good service attitude and was friendly and professional. Our guide Harry for the mountain climbing trip was super awesome 👍, patient and careful, and a master at taking photos. If you can choose, you can look for him!
Participated in the 3d2n package. The ranch tour on the first day was too monotonous, and the Poring Hot Springs were not appealing, making it feel like a wasted day. It was too boring for hikers. Arranging snorkeling or seeing proboscis monkeys would be more attractive. I was very satisfied with the two days of hiking. The seamless round-trip transportation provided convenience for travelers, and the driver was punctual and friendly. The mountain guide was very patient and able to keep pace with the travelers, making them feel comfortable. The mountain hut and meals were also very good. Overall, I am very satisfied with Borneo Calling's arrangements. However, the Mount Kinabalu hike is by no means easy. In addition to adapting to the high altitude, a certain level of physical fitness is also required, and some sections require the use of both hands and feet. If it rains, the steep granite sections at the summit can be slightly slippery. I hope participants will prepare themselves accordingly, and I also hope that Klook will provide more reminders to travelers about the difficulty of the hike.
Everyone on YouTube makes it look so easy to climb... but the starting point for the climb is at 1900m. It wasn't quite altitude sickness, but from 2,500m, I had considerable difficulty breathing, and I wouldn't have been able to successfully climb without a porter. The scale is enormous. It just makes me appreciate how beautiful the mountains in Korea are. ^^
