Day Tour fm Takayama: Alpine Splendor Shinhotaka Ropeway & Kamikochi

On May 16, 2026, I took a one-day group tour, and the weather was absolutely beautiful 🌞. Our tour guide, Harry, was British, very kind and enthusiastic, and our fellow travelers were also very nice. Harry reminded us when to meet at each attraction and enthusiastically helped us take photos. With this tour, there's no need to worry about buying cable car tickets or transportation to the cable car; Klook handles all the arrangements. We took two cable cars up to Kamikochi, where we could gaze at the distant high mountains from above, seeing Japan's Alps – it was truly stunning! Because the weather was so incredibly good, we even saw the very distant Mount Haku, and our guide said we were very lucky to see it. Then we went to Taisho Pond to see its clear stream, and walked to Kappa Bridge to view the same mountains from a different perspective. The scenery along the entire route was breathtakingly beautiful! It's definitely worth a visit! 👍

The views were unreal and the trip was very worth it. The trip was very relaxed and we didn't feel like we were not rushed on time. The personnel were very professional and top notch. Our guide Yogi was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. Our driver Kaori-san was very cheerful. I would recommend to take this excrusion rather than a do-it-yourself trip to Kamikochi. Everything was hassle free and well worth the price.

this was a full tour group, with a very friendly and helpful english speaking guide! the trip up the shinhotaka ropeway was cooling and fun except that weather was too foggy to catch any sight of the breathtaking views lol kamikochi was really amazing, giving the peaceful calm vibes so zen that i wished i could have stayed there for picnic or just staring blank into the clear turquoise green waters for hours! the views of the peaks were amazing! when we were on our way leaving kamikochi we managed to see the japanese monkeys!!

The Kamikochi trekking was really great. The guide said that the weather was fantastic and that we were really lucky. I am grateful to the guide who explained and guided us well.

Our tour guide yogi was amazing. he was helpful, extremely friendly and gave us a lot of insight into Japan. despite the rain the day was great, and included an extra stop to a waterfall as the clouds got in our way of the view at the rope way. great day and would recommend

itinerary changed due to ropeway closure for maintenance and company was great about letting us know and giving option to cancel or do alternative which was go to a limestone cave tour before going to Kamikochi. Cave itself was just ok, but the art museum there had better objects than in Tokyo National Museum. Guide provided good insight to art collection, cave, hike, and even a good place to eat dinner after the tour.

Yoshi san and Kanda san were very nice, patient and accommodating. Yoshi san was the perfect guide, telling us the best spots for photo taking and also helping us to take photos. Yosh was also very knowledgeable, not just about Kamikochi and Shinhotaka Ropeway, but about Japanese food and culture. And plenty of recommendations on anime and YouTube videos relevant to our experience in Takayama/Gifu préfecture. All in all, a very lovely day tour. Well worth the money!

They would arrange a beautiful location for us to enjoy and take photos when riding the car. 🥰 The whole process was not boring, and we had fun chatting about different cultures 👍🏻👍 🏻

The itinerary led by tour guide Hemi is rich in information. Starting from the mountains allows more time to explore these two attractions. It is highly recommended for travelers who like beautiful natural scenery to choose this itinerary.
