A nice big room with a small but ok bathroom. (Shower door leaked however.) I think my biggest issue with the hotel is the dated decor. The black is dreary rather than elegant, the artwork seems 1970’s, the lobby small and absolutely uninspired and uninviting. No sitting area other than the bar which is awkward when waiting. For such an historic building, update the design!

Down side was the breakfast wasn't available until 07:00am and I had to be out the hotel traveling to clients just after 07;00am so no time to enjoy breakfast. Also restaurant was closed most nights and had to order foo in the bar area and when tables were booked it left not many places to sit comfortably

We stayed at the Malmaison for two nights in a twin room. We arrived at around noon and the helpful reception staff arranged to look after our luggage until our room was ready. This allowed us to go and explore Belfast. After returning later, we were struck by how dark the interior of the hotel is, in particular the corridors. Our room was also oddly lit with an eclectic selection of angle-poise lamps, down lights and hanging vintage bulbs. We were visiting the Titanic Museum the following day and had bought some programmes to watch on the hotel TV. These were on a USB stick. Unfortunately, the USB ports on the TV had been disabled and the Chromecast feature on the TV menu didn't work either. We reported the issue to Reception but all of the TVs in the hotel had the same problem and no solution was forthcoming during our stay. On our first night there had been a wedding in the hotel and the guests talked loudly in the corridors until the early hours, so we didn't get much sleep initially. We had breakfast each morning in the hotel. The toaster barely toasted the bread on just one side and needed multiple passes to get a satisfactory result. The coffee machine was out of order so coffee had to be ordered from staff. I ordered a black coffee at the same time as I ordered my breakfast but it still hadn't arrived by the time I'd eaten it. Location wise, the hotel is next to a busy main road but is a good compromise for both the city centre and the Titanic Quarter.

Great

Solo stay

The location was great (just outside old town, near the water) and room quite spacious. No conditioner in room, nor moisturizing cream. Super quick check in. Overall, satisfying hotel.
