Great

Solo stay

Lovely, character-filled coaching inn. Room was clean with delightful toiletries and in-room coffee/tea options, and quiet. Bed was an utter delight. Really comfy. Included breakfast was good, and I also had a delicious dinner. Drinks could be enjoyed in the courtyard or bar. Quite lovely. The staff was great. Everyone was helpful and professional. There is no air-conditioning, but a fan was provided.

This inn is in the perfect location to explore the Cotswalds without a car. It's an easy walk from the train station. We took a few day trip tours while there and enjoyed the Tuesday market. We also took the train to Bath for the day. The inn itself has a great old pub and dining room and a lovely courtyard that all serve meals or just a drink. There is a nice early breakfast you can choose that is just served to the guests that are staying at the inn. Our room on the first floor had a lovely private garden with a table that allowed us to have coffee in our robes the morning. The staff is helpful and kind and the inn is well maintained. Would definitely stay there again!

Our stay at the White Hart Royal Hotel for our 9th wedding anniversary was a very disappointing one. The rooms were extremely dated - they didn't offer refrigerators, smart TVs, or safes - completely unacceptable for a comfortable stay. The floor in our room sloped so badly that I actually ran into a table while trying to make my way to the restroom during the night. To make matters worse, the curtain was broken, allowing bright street lights to flood the room all night long and making proper sleep nearly impossible. We were also placed at the end of a hall where the door was opened and slammed closed at all hours. What was even more frustrating was the complete lack of concern from the staff. We reported the broken curtain, yet nothing whatsoever was done to fix the issue, which made it clear that guest comfort and satisfaction were not a priority. The experience only deteriorated further when we were turned away from dinner at the hotel pub because they were “short staffed.” As if that weren’t bad enough, we were then told that local restaurants might be closing and boarding up due to concerns about “gypsys / Pikeys” coming into town — leaving us unable to find anywhere to eat for the evening. Overall, the entire experience was appalling. Every issue we encountered was ignored, no effort was made to remedy any of the problems, and we left feeling frustrated, unwelcome, and deeply disappointed. I would never stay there again and could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is an historic hotel and with that comes uneven floors and steep stairways with no lifts so it is not at all easy to carry your suitcase up and down. When you walk into the hotel it smells of fish. Also our room, while comfortable, was in need of a new clean coat of paint. The bathroom was newly refurbished with nice tile and the combination shower/tub was perfect. It would have been helpful to have updated USB outlets so we could charge our electronic devices more efficiently.

The hotel was very good, staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast was very good in both days. Our evening meal on Saturday evening was excellent. On the Sunday morning, we had drinks in the hotel garden which were brought to us by bar staff. The only negative thing was that I had booked a small double room and small it was. So really that was an error on my part so I would definitely book this hotel again, but booking a larger room with a larger double bed. All in all a great place to stay, thank you to all the staff that made it that way.

Nice big room. Liked the tub shower combo for soaking an aching body after a good days hike.
